I've figured out how to de-cap and resize my cases easily enough, but when I got to seat my bullets (after case expansion that is), I can't seem to seat the bullet properly. The problem is that every time I try to seat a bullet, it's not going in nearly far enough. I'm guessing about 1/10th of the way in. I screw my seater die further in and try again but that doesn't seem to be working either, in fact, it seems like I only get one shot at it before the case mouth is closed in and I get easily place a bullet in it to start seating.. I'm thinking that I may not be expanding the case mouth enough, but I'm not really sure either. The bullet was just in there when placed on top, but did not fall out when tipped upside down. Part of the problem is that I'm not sure how far to screw the seater die in initially; it says to screw it in until I feel it hit the case mouth, but does that mean I stop as soon as I feel a little resistance?
This is for .45ACP
-I'm using RCBS carbide dies
-I'm using dead primers
-Not using any powder (dummy rounds first)
-Using a Rockchucker
-Federal brass, winchester 230 grn rn fmj.

Second question, I also picked up a Lyman kinetic bullet puller, which doesn't seem to pull bullets. I've tried it on Czech 7.62x39 surplus and on a federal .45, and nothing. After measuring it didn't even budge a mm. I've hit it multiple times, hard and light, on wood, on brick, and nadda. Success, question answered.

Bullet puller need at least 3 good hard strike on wood.

Your seating/crimping is too low.. On Lee dies, you adjust the crimp first, than the seating portion of the die.. (on a dummy already done)

Unscrew your seating die at least 3 full turns.
Put your sized and trimmed, case on the shellholder and raise the ram.
Gently screw the seating die down until you feel some resistance, Yes this will be quite light resitance, to start, this is the crimp-shoulder contacting the mouth of the case, now unscrew the die about 1/8th of a turn and lock it in position, for now.
Do you have any factory loaded rounds handy? If so, put one in the shell holder and slowly raise the ram, If you feel any resistance, stop, and determine where it's coming from.
When you get tot the top of the stroke, screw the small screw in the centre of the seating die down until you feel it contact the bullet, drop the ram, screw the seating stem in about another 1/4 turn and lock it.
Everything should work fine now.

Get the ABC'S of reloading or any reloading book ,then Read it !!!!!

Nah, don't bother.

Seriously, everything you need to know you can find out here. You have literally hundreds of years of experience on this board.

I find that reloading is just plain straightforward. I never looked in a book and Lee 1000 is easy to setup, Once you know how to setup the dies, it's plain easy.., resize/unprime, prime, expand, powder, seat, crimp.

You don't need to read 10 books to be able to do some pistol caliber reload. Rifles might need more attention because of the walls but again, it's about the same operation.

It's like changing brake on a car, if you aren't mecanical challenged, it's obvisous...

Look in this section there is link to some reloading website, it explain pretty much everything.
