Bullet seating problem-Problem solved thanks guys!!!

Hello,today I was loading rounds for my 8mm Magnum, using brand new Remington brass, an RCBS press and RCBS dies. When I seated the bullets (200 grain Accubonds) they were all loose. I could actually push the finished bullets right back into the case. I only used a touch of Lee resizing lube inside the neck as usual and have never encountered this problem before. I know it's probably a rookie problem but don't know what I've done wrong. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Okay, one rookie to another, are you sure you used the right bullets? I mean really sure? Last week I was loading some 303 British rounds and I had the exact same problem, after I reset my dies twice and went over everything again and again it finally hit me...I was loading .308 dia bullets that were for my M14 and Garand. Felt like a serious idiot and was not planning on mentioning it to anyone, but if it might help you out, well, there it is. Recheck that you're not loading to wrong bullets.
 
Chances are you've done nothing wrong. The expander button might be a touch on the large side, and if this proves to be the problem there are a few things you could do.

The simplest solution might be to crimp your bullets in place, particularly if the loose seating only occurs with one bullet style, although I wouldn't consider this with any bullet that does not have a cannular. Secondly is to work the expander ball with a fine grade metal cutting abrasive cloth, just go slow and check your progress frequently. Lastly, you could replace the expander with one of smaller diameter, if the 8mm expander is too large you might try one for 7.7.

You said you were using brand new brass, be sure to full length size your new brass prior to loading.

Before you do anything, mesure the diameter of the expander with good quality caliper and then if is more then .323" it is too big and trim down in highest point to .321-2", or order brand new expander all together.
 
Problem Solved

Thanks for the help guys. Actually when I started looking at my cases, I realized I had crunched the shoulders down almost flat. I don't know if this happened when I originally sized the new brass or when I first started seating the bullets (improperly.) Everything seems fine now. Thanks again for the help guys. Art
