Hi I am going to be shooting .45 ACP in our IPSC league and am looking for a bullet recommendation from other lead slingers any opinions on the 230g Round nose vs a 200g SWC vs 200 TC . I will also be casting my own bullets if this enters into your recommendations.
If there are any other projectiles I could use please let me know .

Thanks

Not experienced with this particular choice, but in general the heavier bullets moving some what slower give better (less) felt recoil than the lighter equivalent load.

Also most 1911 based 45's tend to function "more reliably" with the 230 RN than the 200 SWC/TC. Of course a well set up gun should run well with both

While you can certainly load 220 - 230 gr lead RN bullets to less felt recoil and still make major IF your gun will run with LSWC then the 200 gr LSWC H&G design is a great boolit to use. 5.3 gr Win 231 makes Major for IPSC and PF for IDPA out of my guns and load is extremely accurate. I haven't noticed much difference in recoil and the LSWC boolit cuts cleaner holes in target for those close to the line shots.

Boolits are cast from wheelweights with a squirt of tin added to aid mold fillout water quenched and using a hard lube.

My Norks and Para SSP love the load.

Take Care
