I am going to start reloading .270 and 30-06

Looking for suggestions.

Both will be deer/black bear guns. I want accuracy, knockdown power and for the 30-06 at least, some long range knock down power. I will likely never use these guns for larger game but you never know.

For the .270 low recoil is a must as it will be for my wife.

I like the 180 partitions for my 30-06. For the 270, try Barnes 130 gr TSX. I've been using them in my 270 WSM and my hunting buddy in his 270 Win. and they perform really well. Good accuracy and the terminal results have been impressive. You'll also probably find that the 130 gr bullets have a little less recoil than heavier bullets.

As I've reported recently, I'm now sold on the 168-grain Barnes TripleShock as the do-everything bullet for a .30-06 hunting rifle. I use Vihtavuori N560 powder and get velocities around 3,050 with that bullet out of the 22-inch barrel on my Remington Mountain Rifle. Basically, this load gives up little or nothing to the .300 WSM, and it hammered a large Mule Deer at 300 yards about two weeks ago.

168 grains is the perfect bullet weight in the '06, and it will work with virtually any reasonable powder, from Varget through Reloder 22 and N560.

That Triple Shock is an accurate bullet. (I'm a competitive shooter so I pay attention to accurate bullets.) It also opens up well and penetrates superbly. Most people report that a 168-grain Triple Shock will penetrate further than a 200-grain Nosler Partition, which is saying a lot. In other words, there is no reason to use a heavier bullet in the .30-06 (short of a 220-grain solid), if penetration is your goal.

I've recently started using 160 gr. Nosler Partitions in my .270s. I doubt the lousy 10 grains makes much difference in performance, but the improvement in accuracy is quite remarkable!

In fact, I have a quite a few boxes of 150 NPs that I'd trade in a heartbeat for 160s...

I use 150gr Hornadys for dial in, target practice and deer hunting on my 270win. I use 165gr Hornadys with my 30.06. Both have similar ballistics and great accuracy. Tumbleweed uses 160gr Nosler partitions in his 270win, this is a great round that in my rifles dials the same as my 150's, so you don't have to redial/resight in. I have taken Elk at 230yds with this round, it is devastating!

270 - 140 gr Hornady BTSP over a mild charge of Varget, something around 2500 fps. Should be deadly inside 250 yards and recoil light.

30-06 - 165 gr Nosler Partition over H4350. 57-58 grains usually does 2800 fps in a 22-24" tube. Great big game load

Any favorite loads for the 140 grain Accubond in a .270?
I use once fired Federal cases with Fed 210 primers. 54gr of Hodgdon's H4350 sends the 140 Accubonds over the chrony @ 2936 fps out of my 22" bbl. M70 Featherweight (my favorite deer load) My .30-06 always enjoyed Fed cases with 57gr IMR 4350 under a 165gr Hornady Spirepoint. Never chronied this load, but many moose & deer one shot kills said it all for years.
