Bullets across the US Border

we do go hunting and shooting when he comes to Canada sometimes there is some ammo left over though that he forgets to bring back with him......oh geez I better let him know next time.......those homeland security checkpoints are far more concerned about actual weapons, bombs, illegal aliens, and drugs then a little bit of ammo that you actually tell them you have, the customs brochure should be ALOT more clearer cause you all know what it states I am not aware of any export laws or anything other than what it states and that is 5000 rounds

The Canadian customs brochures are only concerned with advising people as to Canadian laws. If you want to learn about US export regulations, you need to contact the US authorities.

No, you can't export ammunition from the US,. Not a problem with CBSA but a huge problem on the US side. If you are caught expect to go on the no fly list as well as a whole lot of Federal charges. I was trying to buy some ammunition and got the OK from CFO, RCMP and CBSA but but absolutely not from the ATF and US Border Protection. Also, non-citizens are not legally allowed to possess ammunition.

You can under the authority of an approved ATF form6NIA in the amounts listed on the permit.
Any firearms listed on the permit and any unused ammo must accompany the permittee back to canada.

I will be contacting the US authoritys.....for people that are unaware like myself can be in some serious trouble by the sounds of things......99% of people that are unfamiliar with US rules regarding ammo importation will just go by the canada customs brochure.......I can't believe our own people would let us think we are good to go with 5000 rounds per person without even writing something in fine print like "see US export law" or something geez what a joke

The questions you should ask yourself are the following.
If you are put in separate rooms and questioned will both your stories hold water?
Will his purchase history vs your previous trips look suspicious?
Will your emails and text messages incriminate you or him?
How much do you have to lose?
How much does he have to lose?

Here is some bedtime reading

Anything with an asterisk is considered "significant military equipment "
Cliff notes
Category I—Firearms, Close Assault Weapons and Combat Shotguns
*(a) Nonautomatic and semi-automatic firearms to caliber .50 inclusive (12.7 mm)

Category III—Ammunition/Ordnance
*(a) Ammunition/ordnance for the articles in Categories I and II of this section
In other words even 22LR for your Ruger 10-22 is considered significant military equipment.

Perhaps they expect people to look into the laws in foreign countries that they choose to visit. It's not like the Canadian government is aware of which countries that you might visit. What do you expect them to do, supply a complete list of laws and regulations for each and every country in the world, in case you decide to visit that country?

I asked on the Canadian side a week ago about guns and ammo. They said it's fine. If it's legal here . It's just the u.s. stores that are not supposed to sell to Canadians. But if they do the canadian side has no issues. They just want that duty money

I believe as a non-citizen you are allowed to possess up 1000 rounds of ammunition IF you have a valid hunting permit. That may help you with posession in the USA but not export.

My wife and I took 6,500 rds down with us to Phoenix last year as we shot matches every weekend for the 7 weeks we were there. No limit that I know of, just one word of advice, if your firearms are tailored to specific loads, take more than you need. Last year for one match the Match Director cranked up the round count 2 weeks before the match and my Form 6NIA had been submitted 4 months prior listing the ammo that I wanted to take based on the initial match copy. So now if the match copy says I need 1,000 rds of .45acp, my Form 6 NIA is submitted for 3,000 rds of .45acp

About time that "illegal aliens" were prohibited from purchasing guns or ammo. That oughta cut down the crime rate a a bunch....
I guess you must listen to FOX News
Do you have any data to support your position or did Donald Trump say so?
http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-mythical-connection-between-immigrants-and-crime-1436916798

"A new report from the Immigration Policy Center notes that while the illegal immigrant population in the U.S. more than tripled between 1990 and 2013 to more than 11.2 million, “FBI data indicate that the violent crime rate declined 48%—which included falling rates of aggravated assault, robbery, rape, and murder. Likewise, the property crime rate fell 41%, including declining rates of motor vehicle theft, larceny/robbery, and burglary.”

Dude, chill. Tongue in cheek sarcasm as we all know that prohibitions of any kind are useless.

PS -Trump is a total loon but better him than the Hilderbeast.

The PDF file you referenced deals with Non Immigrant Aliens with a Visa, with residency conditions. Canadians do not require VISA, I stand by my posting https://www.atf.gov/file/56441/download We DO NOT use the BATF Form 4473 but the Form 5330.3D
