Bullets for Inline Muzzle loaders

I load my TC Encore 0.50 with .45 300gr sabot http://www.harvestermuzzleloading.com/ over 70gr (by weight) of triple 7 FFFg. The expand without any issues up to at least 100yards (haven't tested it beyond that range). Haven't chronographed it yet either but it has an authoritative report and with a 1.75" sight hight provides 160yard +/- 3inch point-blank-range.

Does anyone have a good load for Savage ML's that use SR4759 ( I've only got this powder on hand ) that would give a 200 yard range.

I'm using 43 gr behind a 300 gr xtp now and they just nosedive after 150 yards. This load rocks at under 120 yards but after 150 it is pathetic.

43gr behind a dead center 260gr bullet. ~2300fps, ~.36 BC. Still going 1650fps at 300 yards and I've use them down to ~1400fps impact speeds. Great bullet.

Range Drop
(yd) (in)
0 -1.5
50 1.6
100 3.0
150 2.3
200 -0.7
250 -6.2
300 -14.5

I read Chuck Hawkes reviews on the dead center bullets. he claims that the stats on the bullet are over inflated. Also, he describes the bullet as all lead.

Are your numbers from an actual test ?

I'm using 43 grains of SR4759 and 250 grain xtp's or sst bullets. I also measured 2300 fps in my 10mlII. Furthest I've shot a deer was a 120 yards and it worked great. Tried sighting in at 200 yards and I couldn't find any holes. I'd need to spend more time on that to get it figured out, but doubt I'll shoot that far, so it hasn't been made a priority. Its sure an awesome gun at 100 yards, and I love the ease of maintenance.
