well seeing im getting into casting for the m/l er..i have to look into the posibilities to cast for my hunting rounds..
but im not that great on the stats of it all yet..so i have to ask..
whats the advantages and disadvantages of casted bullets ,compared to lets say factory partition bullets?

Cast bullets are cheaper, by a long shot.
They hold together well, but figure on shooting them at 30-30 velocities for the most part, unless you want to get into paper patching.
As a hunting bullet, they work mostly as solids, little or no expansion most of the time, unless you really play with the alloy, and your loads.
I use gas checks for the higher velocity loads, at 1800fps to 2150.
Accuracy can be stellar, but, your casting ability has to be up to scratch to get great bullets. Throw the bad ones back in the pot, take only the best.
I shot a doe twice with lead bullets. One shot through the heart at thirty yards. She gave no indication of being hit, and swapped ends. I fired the second shot at about twenty feet, Texas heart shot. It exited her chest, traveling the full length of her body, and making a hell of a mess in the process. She fell like she'd been pole axed.
I've taken a number of deer with the 30-30, and the 45-70. No regrets, and no bullets found. They all exited.

So, think on downloading your 30-06.
