My Hima Arms HG-105 was recently purchased as a first time shotgun purchase. Impressions (very initial impressions!) here:

I have put 100 rounds or so of 2-3/4" low recoil slug, 00 regular buckshot, 00 Magnum, and 3" Magnum through it. Obviously that round count is nothing at all so far, but it's what I've done. All of the magazines I've used so far are the OEM Hima magazines - I have not tried other AS46-compatible magazines.
I have one failure to feed on a 2-3/4" 00 buck and two failures to feed on 3" 00 magnum rounds. All stoppages cleared very easily by cycling the charging handle again.
I agree 100% with the posters above that for maximum reliability or if you're looking for home defense/wildlife protection you want a tried and true brand name pump-action model or something like a Benelli M4 if you're doing semi-auto.
If you have any specific questions about the HG-105, I'm happy to answer them here or in the other thread.
I only bought the HG-105 because of the novelty of it - I have many opportunities to shoot pump and semi-auto standard configuration shotguns that belong to friends. So far, I'm enjoying it. I defer entirely to the greater experiences of people in this thread regarding shotguns - I am merely passing along my experience with the HG-105 thus far.
It is pretty much impossible to shoulder the smallest bull pups and still aim.
I will say that I am 5'-11" with pretty standard length arms and I have no issue shouldering and aiming with the bullpup HG-105. I would not try to use iron sights with a folder/pistol grip, for sure, but the HG-105 is pretty compact, and you can aim just fine.
