Hello CGN's! Im in the market for a a bullpup and wondering what is suggested for around the $800-$1000 mark CDN? My buddy just purchased a Kel-Tec KSG, and while i do like the extra capacity, and the option to put a forgrip on it I dont like the weight. I am leaning towards a KS7 for those reasons, but then i loose the foregrip option. Does anyone use or can recommend other options available in Canada that can be a better option?

For left handed users the Keltecs are good choices because ambidextrous controls. However loading efficiently via the underside ejection port takes some training.

KS7 fits your budget. I like KS7 for size and weight, the carry handle is genuinely helpful, it's a neat package. Accuracy with slugs is excellent. The foregrip does not feel ideal initially. I adopted a c-clamp grip (wrap thumb to top of foregrip lip) and it works much better - no more beaten up thumb, easier to get down into the sights, improved push-pull recoil mitigation.

KSG doesn't fit your budget. Main feature of the KSG is the two magazine tubes. Not just the extra capacity, but being able to select ammo type - e.g. one tube of slugs, another of buck, etc. Easier to choke but no carry handle, more weight, more size, needs an optic for the rail, lots more money when all said and done. The special import 13.5" KSG is novel.

KS410 fits your budget. I've not tried yet, but maybe it brings benefits of both?

There is one semi-auto bullpup 12ga non-restricted - I have forgotten its name and I'm sure nobody will remind me. Lastly there is the Escort Bulltac which is a cheap KS7 rip off (pump). Availability is going to be a challenge on these. I'm not aware of anything else bullpup.

I haven’t had my KS7 out as much as I would’ve liked but I’ve really enjoyed it so far. I owned a couple of KSGs and I liked them OK but I prefer the simplicity and handiness of the KS7. I know it’s polarizing but I like the integrated carry handle with its integrated fibre optic sight, and I find the fore-end comfortable in use.

As mentioned above there is one outlier left.

The bigger question is will it stay legal.

Bullpup shotguns "look" too scary for the feeble minded it seems.
More than likely won't be legal for long. Tempting to get one while it's still available. The adjustable riser is nice to have

KSG's are fun shotguns, just be mindful of attaching various types of grips on short barreled pump guns. I'm sure I can find the photo of the guy whose support hand slipped off a KSG and he absolutely mangled his hand while trying to shoot fast. I can't remember if the grip failed or if his hand slipped forward... but either way, be safe out there!

What did you end up going with? As far as semi autos go, I believe there are two left. Charles Daly N4S and Federation Firearms Bulldog.
I went to check out some bullpups and I really didn't love them, some were to heavy, others just didn't have the right feel. I haven't actually purchased anything yet because of being on the fence still but I am leaning towards the mossberg 590a1, either the 14in or 18.5. I like the feel, the weight is nice and with the proper accessories (flash light, new stock) the gun feels great and will serve its purpose better i think.

That’s definitely a great option. Can’t go wrong.

I would highly recommend the 590A1 Retrograde. It's a tank, and it runs like one too!

I also like the 14" shotguns. Very handy, very quick to point. Get both?
