Hi, I am looking for recipes for the following calibers
45acp 200gr copper washed (in a 1911)
and 40SW 180gr copper washed (in a Glock 22)

not too concerned with power factors, but I would like to achieve mild recoil.

thanks,
Mo

From Alliants website:
For 180 grain 40SW (Jacketted HP)
Bullseye 5.5 grains 1,015fps 33,900 Psi
For Lazer cast 180 Grain 40 SW
Bullseye 4.5grains 911fps 33,000Psi

Bullseye is a great powder for reduced loads too. But, it's dirty
Have you tried Titegroup?

for the 45 ACP 200gr JHP
Bullseye 6 grains 960 fps 19,400Psi

Too fast for the recoil pulse that I want and need.

One time I loaded bullseye in 44 magnum cases, 240g bullet. Shot it in my 10" barrel model 29. I think partially because of the extra weight of the long barrel and the rapid burn of bullseye powder the gun didn't recoil up much. Unfortunately the recoil pulse came straight back and was hard on my wrist. I now use Unique/Universal Clays in the 44 magnum.

So help me underrstand the relationship between grains and recoil.
to get low recoil, is it heavy bullet, low powder, or vice-versa?
of course recycling and feeding reliably is a given.
thnx
