Burns Lake B.C. 1000yard shoot

Bushrat; I am building one more, but it probably will not be finished in time for the B.L. 1000 yarder this year. I will probably bring my Very Heavy 6mm again, [I toyed with getting rid of it, but changed my mind] my 6.5-284, and my winning Hunter rifle, the 7mm Mag.:) ;) Regards, Eagleye.

Burns Lake Shoot

Just made it home after a round trip of 2800 KM {tired but happy} of driving to the Burns Lake Shoot and back home to Whitehorse.
Just a few observations on my part:
The shoot was extremely well organized, with great emphasis on SAFETY.
All the support staff and the organizers deserve a medal of sorts for the efforts that they put out to make it a great event.
A special thanks to the Target setters who did a great job, without you guys the match just wouldn't happen.
The food from the concession was better than most along with a great supper and breakfast.
All the competitors where very helpfull to the new shooters and incredibly friendly towards each other.
My shooting partner and I where made to feel at home and welcomed by all.
We made quite a few new friends to say the least.

Above all "WE WILL BE BACK FOR NEXT YEARS MATCH !" From the local shooters I've talked to so far most are hyped about coming for next years match.
Len and I wish to thank everyone for the hospitality and warm reception that we received. Thanks for tolerating the never ending questions that only a newbie would ask. THANK YOU ALL.

Cool! I didn't know there was a 1000 yard shoot in B.C.:)

I live in the GVRD and I'm trying to escape to either the Kootenay's or the area West of P.G. and East of Smither's.

I'm glad to know I'd have something to occupy my time!:D

P.S. the ranges here suck compared to what I'm used to.

It was a great shoot folks.
I however am most impressed by Ernst's No4Mk1* .303 Brit achieving a 21" group at 1048 yards wearing full wood and a PH5C peep sight.

That was the highlight of the shoot for me
And I wasn't even shooting!

I managed a 17" group with my Sendero 7mm SAUM (Heavy Barrel & Unlimited) and 24" with my win70 .30-06 (Hunter & Sporter). Mind you the factory ammo I chose for the Hunter class dissapointed me a little. Considering we had to use factory ammo in hunter class the 168gr Nosler ballistic tips were hitting the target sideways.

I know the Sendero can do better but the mirage was really throwing me off. I learned a lot about long range shooting. Especially from talking with you guys.

I'll post pics later folks.
