Burris 1.5-6X XTR

I have one. I didn't shoot it much yet but I like it. I carried it during 9 days of moose hunting with my M25. I really like the reticle, just have to remember it's SFP so the BDC is only good at 6x.

At dusk and dawn I could see much better than my partners with their basics Bushnell and Leupold. The lighted reticle help at those times but I wish the lowest setting was lower. It may get lower with a older battery. It always stayed clear despite rain, breath, closed lens-cover, etc.

I believe it's a good value scope and it would serve you well.
If you can pay the extra 400$, you could get a Night force compact scope. They now offer BDC reticle as well. But you'd have to choose 1-4x or 2.5-10x.
Or for an extra 1000$, the Elcan Specter is great too (mount included).

The PEPR is not quick-detachable, right? So you won't mount BUIS? If you'd like to have BUIS, you could get an American defense mount or ARMS 22 rings. The latter would allow a lower setting and save a little weight.

...this scope for an AR15 project.

The BDC is made for the .308. The booklet mention the distances for the .223 but it gives numbers hard to remember. You probably knew but they have a .223 BDC reticle in the XTR14.

I wouldn't use a cantilever mount on a rifle that don't need it but that's just me.
