Just ordered one of these Burris Bino/Scope combos on Thursday, received today, well packaged, delivered to my door.
http://ww w.lebaron.ca/pdf_fall_07/specials/f07_specials_p5.pdf

total after tax and shipping was $332.25

interestingly enough the scope bundled with this package is not their 3-9x40 basic 'Plex' reticle as indicated on the specials page ($302.45). they sent me the model with the Ballistic Plex reticle which normally retails for $326.63

LeBarons prices arent that bad to begin with, so considering that you basically get their 3-9x40mm Ballistic Plex Fullfield II with shipping, tax, and a bonus pair of Burris Landmark 8x32 roof prism binos that retail for around $200 in canada for the normal catalogue price of just the scope, this is a screaming deal.

i dont own any stock in Burris or LeBarons, hehe, just wanted to let people know that i am very happy with the package deal and they still have them in stock for anyone else thats interested.

The bonus binoculars are not the nicest binos ive ever handled, but they seem rugged and well built and they are reasonably crisp and clear: far better (and more compact) than the run of the mill $100-ish Bushnells most people carry around. so i wouldnt recommend them for bird watchers, but for general hunting use scanning for game theyre ideal. if you intend to spend hours at a time continuously glassing for game then these are not for you since youll experience eyestrain with these with extended use - look into high end binos.

Once again we are somewhat at the mercy of our suppliers and distributors in Canada who decide on what they will bring in and what they will charge us. Likewise as consumers our customers are exactly in the same boat with respect to us as retailers. We are looking long and hard at what we will be buying and who we will get it from (mabey more directly from the US). Up till now we have mostly been able to keep our shelves filled most of the time because of our good relationship with Canadian distributors and this has resulted in very good retail sales for us. Some people in this forum have noted (besides our hopefully good service) that we often have what they are looking for at a little bit more money than our large competitor. The dynamics of this may chage and with increased competition form the likes of Cabelas or Basspro. We may be forced to keep more of our prices down but also to allow this at the same time keep our inventory or selections down as well. I wonder how most of our cutomers will react to this direction. Availability of merchandise up till now seems to be the biggest concern rather than being the lowest price in most cases. Phil.

That's true Phil, and I wasn't being specific (well, I guess I was, but not meant in a chastising way). I was refering generally to the fact that our dollar should be buying us more then what we are currently getting. I don't mind paying more for good service (which I've always seen at your shop) and selection, just not 50% more. As with most of us, I will be watching to see which way this turns over the next few months, depending on where our dollar goes, of course. - dan
