I am interested in purchasing my first optic for my Mini 14 Ranch. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with either and could provide feedback on what they thought.

Thanks,

I had the vortex.
The reticule was way too small for my liking - very fine lines.
Both of these are meant for AR's so the mounting system may be too high for your rifle - chin weld time. Make sure and look into this.
If I had a mini I would mount a scope and rings on it.

The Spitfire's mounting system is adjustable.

anything that you could recommend? I am very new to the world of optics.

I have a couple of Leupold 1.5-4 that are awesome.
Also the Redfield Revolution is a great value, i like the 2-7x33.
Both of these are nice and light.

What kind of shooting are you doing and at roughly what ranges?

I'd like to have the option of doing 100-300 yards the range I shoot at is that distance anyway; also some 4x CQB would be nice too. I've also considered the Burris TAC3099

When I finally got around to buying my mini14(thx irunguns :) )the first thing I wanted was a magnified red dot along the lines of the the burris and vortex you mentioned, but after researching around a bit I finally settled on a vx2 1-4x20 and couldn't be happier.

I like a nice tight cheekweld so I prefer to get a scope as low as possible and those magnified red dot's all seem like they're in the chinweld sector as others have mentioned, plus my thick glasses seem to refract the red dot image into a blurry circle so I tend to stick with conventional scopes.

I even found I can get my bolt in and out without removing the scope or rings, so that's a plus lol

I run the AR332 on my AR15 an find its perfect for 100-500m. The only thing I don't like about it is for close range running 3 gun. It works but I'll probably just keep it for Service Rifle and get an Eotech for 3 gun. For the primary range of 100-300 yards I would recommend it.
