Hi Folks,

I have a Burris Fullfield II w/ balisticplex reticle on my remington 700 XCR in .270 win. When out at the range trying to sight it in, I expected the range markers on the reticle to be helpful. They were not. The drop of my 270 win was nothing like it was supposed to be. I sighted my scope to 100 yards. The when aiming at the 200yrd target, I help my rifle a little higher to take advantage of the 200 yrd marker on the reticle. However my shots landed at virtually the same spot at the 100 yrd marker (Centre) of the reticle. Then even at the three hundred yard target, the bullets were only landing in between the 100 and 200 yard marker on the reticle. I was shooting factory Wincheter superX .270 130 gr soft points.

So my questions are:

1) Why isn't the reticle even close? Even with the caliber specific "scope dope" provided with the scope by Burris, the adjustments for my reticle is only 1" high or low of each marker as it was calibrated for 0" for a 30-06.
or
2) Why is't my bullet dropping. I know it i flat hooting, but not that flat.

What give? In the end I still like it, becuase the additional hash marks help me guage my holdovers for long range hunting shots. But is is disapointing when something doesn't work as expected.

Maybe try sighting in with the centre crosshair at 200 yards instead of 100. This might help. This way there will be more drop which should correspond to the ballistic marks. No guarantees.
Good luck.

The data supplied with the scope is only a guideline.

You have to develope your own.

Read the trajectory chart for the ammo that you are using, you will be surprised.

the ballistic plex only works at max magnification. if you want to use at any other power you will have to develope your own drop chart. i have two scopes with the plex and found for hunting there not that useful as i rarely use more than 4x to 6x.

I've got the same scope. I agree with RePete. The markings are a useful guideline, but only a guideline. I haven't looked into it, but I'd like to know the MOA spacings between the hache marks, then it may be easier to do a quick set of calculations for your own rifle/ammo combo.

I have the 4.5X14 and it works surprisingly well for my 308 and 223 up to 300M. Like others have said you have to read the data sheet from Burris and use max magnification. You also have to verify everything with your loads.
