Just a heads up for guys that are planning on using the eliminator for longrange hunting, i love the scope but the 90 second lockout is not good for hunting as the deer can walk off the field by the time it unlocks and allows you to lazer the range again....not good. Talked to burris tech and theres no way of changeing this. I guess the nightforce and my 1600b is the way to roll.

The 90 seconds is not a lockout, it's how long the reticle will stay illuminated for after you push the range button. You can range your target as often as you like. The rangefinder never gets locked out.

If your scope will only let you range every 90 seconds, you need to send it in for repairs because something is definitely wrong.

Yes it is, burris agreed with me. If the laser doesn't pick up the object your ranging the scope is locked from ranging for 90sec ,if you read your manual it will tell you that as well. Try it at 700yrds at nothing in a field ,you'll see. ####ty......And watch a deer walk off a field while its locked....more ####ty

From the Burris manual;

The scope will display the Range to your target and
a 10 MPH Windage Offset at the top. The scope will also
illuminate a Holdover Dot on the lower crosshair post. After 10
seconds, the unit, range, and battery status will go off. The Holdover
Dot and Windage Offset will continue to be displayed for the
entire 90 seconds, or until you press an On/Range button again.

After I read your last post I tried every scenario possible to make the rangefinder "lockout" but I can not make it happen. I have pointed the scope at nothing, ranged and got the 4 dots flashing on top, immediately turned and ranged a target at 100m without issue. I tried ranging out beyond the limit of my rifle and got the 4 flashing dots at the bottom of the crosshair and was able to range the 100m target immediately after. I ranged numerous targets (100m out to 700m) in succession without issue. It doesn't matter what I try, I absolutely can't get the rangefinder to lockout.

To be quite honest, if these scopes would only allow the user to range every 90 seconds there is no way in hell that I would ever own one.

Copied from the manual

" A range is not successfully taken. This may happen because the target is beyond the range capability of the scope (either too far or too close), or the range cannot be correctly determined for other reasons. To indicate this result the scope will flash the bottom segments of the four range digits
(_ _ _ _) and display the “Range Fault” pattern for the selected table. The “Range Fault” pattern illuminates dots in 100-unit intervals out to 1,200 units (100-1,200 yards or meters) using the currently selected Table. Many Tables are not capable of reaching 1,200 units. If this is the case, the Dot Pattern will end at the highest 100 unit available. This display also will be corrected for the actual magnification setting. Everything except the dots will go out after 10 seconds; all the dots will remain for the entire 90 seconds."

Did this with both my scopes and was able to range immediately afterwards. I don't have to wait for 90 seconds to range again. Have you actually TRIED your scope and got it to lockout or are you just quoting the manual? The way I read it is the dots will stay illuminated for 90 seconds, NOT that the scope WON'T function for 90 seconds.
Is there anyone else on here with an Eliminator 3 that can confirm their scope locks out for 90 seconds like the OP states it will?

Deezel , thanks .You know that may be the case as i was shooting at a 12" plate . I shot at 340yrds hit it moved back to 445yrds hit it and was impressed with the scopes ballistics . So my son shot at 445 and almost touched my bullet so i then went back to 750 as in the manual they recommend that . ranged the plate shot missed. ranged again dots came up waited 90 seconds , ranged again dots came up did that a few times and gave up that day so now i wish i had tried it within the 90 sec period.....flip . I hope your right that would be awesome. I'll try it next week as I'm out here in the oil patch in southern SK working till then. Where a bouts are you in SK ? I want to get this rifle working with that scope. I'm shooting a Nesika , 308 win built buy Alberta Tac . Thanks for your help ;)

I can see now why you would have thought it locked out for 90 seconds.
Next time you're out and the dots come up at 750 yards, try ranging right away at a closer target. I'm sure you will find that you don't have to wait for 90 seconds.

It sounds more to me like your scope is having a hard time ranging out to 750 yards. That is problematic and I would be looking deeper as to why it has a hard time ranging that distance. I have 2 of the Eliminator 3's and one is more sensitive than the other. One easily ranges consistently out to 1200m, the other starts to have a hard time ranging around 800m. I did contact Burris about this and they said there are 2 possibilities. One is a dirty lens and the other is the laser may be faulty. They suggested I send it in for evaluation but turn around time would be 6-8 weeks. I have not sent it in yet but may after hunting season. It still ranges out to 1000m plus but it takes a couple of tries to do it.

Optics on these are good. I'd probably place them somewhere along the lines of Bushnell's 4500 Elite series.
I took an elk at 160m last year with less than 5 minutes of legal shooting light remaining. Had zero issues and elk was very clear in scope.

The jury is still out for me on this scope.

It is quickest range finding option available.

I find at 100 yards the dot is too big to shoot "fine" groups.

The bullet drop feature works as advertised but needs to be verified....at at least 500 yards.

If your group is high or low you adjust the drop number by 1 or 2 inches and it will be bang on.

The E3 version 1 will NOT work on Muzzleloaders....major let down. It's limited to 230" drop at 750 yards....the latest version of the E3 has a feature to allow for muzzleloaders.

I wish they had more inputs into the computer but the way they do it is pretty simple.

Optics are decent enough and 4-16x is good enough to shoot to 1000 yards which is pretty much where the scope will max out anyways.

Parralex is a little stiff in cold.

I found with some grass/sage bush slightly in the way I wasn't able to range Antelope @ 946 yards.

I did end up taking an Antelope @ 536 yards with 1 shot.....so was happy with that.
