Hi Guys,

Whats the best place in Canada to order up a Burris Fast Fire II w/ rail?

They seem to be almost half price in the US.

Does the restriction apply for red dot sights the same as it would for importing a scope or barrel?

thanks

Here is what must be done inorder to obey the Import/Export laws of Canada & The U.S. for those who wish to order Rifle Scopes from the U.S.

Importing & Exporting into Canada

The rules have changed for exporting firearms parts into Canada. We must now get export authorization for shipping both barrels and scopes to Canada. With barrels we are required to get an export license from the U.S. State Department. In the past Canada was exempt from this requirement but we now must get the license as we do with all other foreign countries. With scopes we are also required to get export authorization but it is through the Department of Commerce.

Before we are able to apply for an export license the end user (the purchaser) must get import authorization from the Canadian government. Individual purchasers may get this authorization on their own or to avoid the paperwork you may place an order through one of the importers listed below. Here are the steps to get that paperwork:

The document is an International Import Certificate issued by;

Export Controls Division (EPE), Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade
Export & Import Controls Bureau
P.O. Box 481, Station "A"
Ottawa ON K1N 9K6

STEPS:

1. Obtain the paperwork from above agency
2. Complete and return paperwork
3. DFAIT will issue import paperwork
4. Importer submits paperwork (originals or certified copies) to U.S. exporter

Thx to Crazy Davey for this info.

First off, I'd drop a line to:

Like I said, almost half price in the US.

Less money I spend on accessories, the more money I have to buy another rifle from Wolverine ;) - Which is an excellent place to do business btw. Nothing but great things to say about Ryan and Wolfgang.

So is a red dot considered a scope? Would that mean that aftermarket iron sights are governed the same way?

Thanks again for any advice gun nutz.

A red dot is considered a scope... even worse than a scope though! It's RED, like laser!

I wonder then, would the same apply for an actual laser?

Is there a list somewhere of whats acceptable and whats not acceptable to import from the US and other countries?

Epps sells them. My father inlaw was able to get one from a local dealer in Huntsville as well. He made out rather well being as he's pretty close with the guy though. He put it on his Remington 7600. It's pretty slick.

The going rate for a Fast Fire II in Canada seems to be around $350-400.

There's websites advertising in the US for $195...

I will put some more effort into this, but if theres too much paperwork and time involved I will just get one locally... Or maybe an EOtech since it's almost the same price! ha

got mine from P&D with the mount
p1010032x.jpg

381$ includign taxes, shipping and the extra ±65$ of the special mount I ordered. They all come with the picatinny mount

it is, the fastfire I is only on special order from P&D. When I ordered my fastfire II they already had a bunch on order. I wanted the model I cause they are cheaper but there would've been a longer wait :p
the only difference is the waterproof electronic soldering. Everything is coated with plastic

so how many people are actually using these on a semi-auto rifle?

I had a guy on texas tell me on the phone that it wouldnt stand up to teh recoil of an AR15. Im confused though because these are designed to be used on shotguns too.

Anyone had any issues with a fast fire yet?

The guy in Texas doesn't have a clue.....these sights are recoil rated to be SLIDE mounted! I'm sorry, but if that little sight will stand up to being mounted to the slide of a 45ACP, there is nothing you could do to hurt it with any shoulder fired weapon.

I have the shotgun version (SpeedBead) on my xtrema II, and it's survived 500+ rounds of heavy 3 1/2" loads...never an issue.

I have seen a number of people using them with a Larue riser as seen here:

They will definatly stand up to the ar15, and Charles Martel has one mounted above the pistol on his 858 and said it stands up fine to the recoil.

Do you have a picture of your burris on the ACOG?

What magnification is your ACOG?

Thx
Perple_Nerple mine sort of is like this one but instead of a Dr.Optic it's an Buris Fast Fire II with the picitiny protector's. Also the ACOG model number is TA01NSN 72307
