I have a model 100 i want to put a red dot on. I have never had a red dot before. Its going to be used in a very tight stand, and with dogs on the deer there is zero time to shoot. I was thinking the fastfire III..... any advise would be great.

Cheers

It is a very good sighting unit, small and compact. The only downside I find is the push power button which has low/med/high/auto/off settings that you have to cycle threw to turn it off. Much prefer the on-off slide switch of the FF II.

Mine is in for warranty. The top mounted battery compartment seems to be problematic for myself and others (google it, kept popping off after about 5 shots for me). They moved the cover from underneath in the FFII to ontop so you wouldn't have to rezero when you put in a new battery. As such, a FFII may be a better deal especially if you can get one at a discount.
I have a sparcII and a trs-25 as well. Both good solid red dots I haven't had any problems with. Perhaps not as fast as a pure reflex sight but with a bit of practice you are on target v. quickly. Vortex has a warranty center in Guelph and a lifetime transferable warranty. Bushnell warranty is good for a year.
I can't wait to get my Fast Fire III back so I can say good things about it and Burris forever warranty. ATM, all I can say that shipping UPS to Colorado isn't cheap.

Check the EE:)

Haha, if I wanted to pay more than retail, I'd surely check the EE. :)

Jokes aside, I'm looking for one to put on my Sig 226 22LR or <cough> Glock 22. More for sh!ts & giggles. The other cheaper option was the Bushnell First Strike but figured if I really liked it, the Burris might have been a more solid unit... well, not after reading about Safehunter's issue.
