So my search for a scope for my AR led me to the Burris MTAC 1-4x24. I picked up the combo off Amazon which included the PEPR mount and a FastFire III for $735 shipped. The FastFire was taken off right away and will be saved for my next pistol. Intended use will be 3-Gun and plinking at the range out to 200 yards. I think this reticle should do nicely for the intended purpose. It is a bit chunky so this will not be a 500 yard precision rifle. But with my astigmatism it will be nice to see a crisp dot in the centre of the scope instead of a red smear. Build quality seems to be excellent and the glass to my eyes appears to be superior to the Vortex Strike Eagle that I was comparing this with. It has less noticeable distortion at 1X in my opinion. The turrets seem robust enough though a bit mushy for my taste. The illumination control makes sense and I actually like that it has an off setting in between each of the 10 brightness settings. Finally, the eye relief on this scope is very generous and forgiving, easily the best I have encountered to date. To be fair I have only used Bushnells and Nikons, not high end scopes. I will provide an update once I have a chance to get to the range. And now, some shameless pics of it mounted to my Colt IUR...
