Hey guys-I've only ever looked through the 3-9 with the E1, but I'm looking to make a small upgrade to one of my varmint rifles. Shots are seldom over 200 yards, so I'm confident about the magnification range. Any opinions on this scope, with the E1 reticle? Any of you have the same one? The 3-9 I looked though-the reticle was very fine, the glass looked nice and bright/clear. SEEMS like it would be a good choice, would love to hear a first-hand/owner's opinion.

Thanks!

Many scopes i buy for my grandkids rifles are Burris. They dont break the bank, reliable and clear. JP.

Beware the Pentax scope with the Burris label.
Nice glass but crap reticles.

? Don't know anything about this, care to elaborate?

Also (to all)-is there an AO/SF scope with a top-end of 14-16X you'd pick over this scope, in the same price range? ($400-ish) I once had a Vortex Viper HS I liked, but the glass didn't appear to be as crisp/clear as the Burris. Would I be remembering that wrong? lol I was using that Viper HS almost weekly at the time, and then used my buddy's Sightron SIII. Kind of redefined what I thought "good glass" meant. I've used a VX-3 for varmint hunting but for the $, it didn't feel like good value for the $.

You probably have to call or email Burris with a serial number to confirm.
I had a compact 2-7 that loosened it's reticle. This was back in the day when they repaired them at Greely Colorado. The repair facility confirmed it was a Pentax made under Burris name.

Burris is a decent affordable optic. if you need warranty or repair in Canada, you could be in for some long wait times, but they honor most anything done to it, scopes or binos.

Got two Burris scopes so far. A Fullfield e1 3-9x40 and a Fullfield IV 2.5-10x42 with illuminated reticle. Thought I give it a try since Nikon isn't selling scopes anymore. I think brightness and clarity is between the newer prostaffs and monarch 3s which I have to compare too and definitely better than a VX Freedom I've owned. controls are better as well - smoother and more precise.

Edit: One gripe I have is the finish on the E1 (it's the Predator Quest series) is not nearly as nice or durable as on the Fullfield IV. Scuffes and scratches fairly easy, imo.

I bought a Burris but had to return it. The ocular dimensions they gave didn't include the big chunky housing & wouldn't clear my bolt handle. The reticle is unconventional & that's not a good thing.

I got a Redfield. Much better.

I've got one, happy with it. One of the Fullfield line. An excellent budget scope, on a lightweight .30-06 and no problems after 200+ rounds. Holds zero, decent glass, would consider a Veracity for an upscale option as a result of my experience.

I’ve got a FF2 4.5-14x42 mounted on a 10/22, for an inexpensive scope, it’s got some very nice glass, as good or better than some of my Leupolds.

Bought a 3-12x40 Burris last week for my new to me .308 Savage 99. Talked to the optics tech at a trusted retailer for some time about options in my price range about light input (large ocular) vs quality of the optics. At my price point, all things considered, he recommended the Burris (remember - the deal was, here's $x I'm going to spend with you today, what's the best of what you've got for the money). Took it out last week. Clicks are positive and crisp. Optics clear. Reticle markings took a bit of reading in the manual to understand, but its nicely marked to extend out to 400 yards (hahaha like I'd be able to do that - especially with a carbine) and has 10KM windage markings. I like it very much. Final results were 2 of 3 shots in a 1CM group at 50 yards, 3 in 3 inch at 100 (great for my skills), both shooting on rests of course.

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.

^I haven't owned enough Leupolds to form a useful opinion on them I guess, the VX-3 and currently, a Freedom Rimfire 3-9. My impressions of each are completely different. The Freedom Rimfire feels like great value for the $, the VX-3 feels like I paid to much/got too little. lol Anecdotal of course.

As for these Burris scopes-I spent a little more time on their site last night, and saw some models I didn't know existed. I'm not sure I have enough faith in them to go any higher than the model I started this thread about, but it's relatively close to the bottom of their line-up. I hadn't realized. I did notice the $230 US price on them, a scope that is close to $500 here. It isn't a rifle I use allot either, but even this Burris would be a step-up from what I'm using.

If you stay away from the lowest end line of Burris they are fantastic. Full field is a pretty decent line for the money. Burris scopes make the bulk of my optics. I trust them.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with it. The one you’re looking at has a side parallax, that’s a nice step up from mine which has an objective parallax.

I do like the ballistic plex reticle on my scope, very simple to use and works great for shooting 22lr out to 200 yards.

I have many Leupolds. My two Burris mistakes makes me believe it's just a bad coincidence I had issues.

Two of my shooting friends have Burris scopes amongst others.
Zero issues.

Plus my Burris Fastfire is the bee's knees on a combination gun.
