Burris Standard or Z-Rings?

I've got Burris Standard Z-Rings holding a Leupold scope on my 300 Wm, and I'm looking for a set for to put a scope onto my 270.

I like the Standard rings, it's a solid setup, but for $20.00 more I can get the Signature Posi-Zee rings.

Are they that much better?

I don't think I really need the inserts, unless someone here can explain why I might.
 
Never used the ones with the inserts myself but supposedly they align the scope in the rings without damaging the tube. Scope tube dents/scratches/damage is one reason I stopped using standard Weaver rings altogether.

Been using the Burris "Z" rings w/o inserts +/or B-Square "Lynx" rings [similar to Burris] with Weaver bases almost exclusively ever since.
 
always used the regular Zee rings myself when the rifle had a Weaver base, although Im sure the Sig Zee would be nicer
 
Go for the Zees with inserts.

I have used the ones with the inserts whenever I have a weaver base. I've had a couple of guns with allignment problems. These rings were a simple answer that worked perfectly. Also, they don't leave any ring marks and they have yet to slip or cause and problems at all. Highly reccomended.:dancingbanana:
 
I use only signature rings now, mount it, move it , turn it, take it off and never a scratch. Use the offset insert kit for long range setups or misalignment and your in business. Been using them for years on everything from a .22 to a .338 without a problem.
 
I've used the regular Zee rings, only because the Signature rings don't come any lower than medium, too high for me. I use low or Xlow. My 40mm scope still has room with the low rings.
 
I use both the signature rings and the standard zee rings. standard ones give you a cleaner look, signature can help A LOT if you have alignment issues.

The inserts are primarily intended to give your scope a stress free mounting experience. Every mounting system has misalignment.....all in varying degrees. Custom guns (actions etc.) generally have the least due to lower tolerances and sound construction. We can reduce misalignment by lapping and buying the best components out there....all at a price I might add and generally more then $20.

Personally if you do not lap your rings, for $20 I would recommend the Burris Sig rings as they are cheap insurance in minimizing problems. In addition they often prevent (but do not eliminate) ring marks on a scope tube which often times reduces the scope value and can impact on accuracy.

We stock both rings (Burris regular and signature) since we lap the std rings when we install them on th rifle.
