I bought a set of Burris Zee rings for my Remington 541-T thinking that they'd look nicer than the Weaver rings that were already on it. It turns out that they look nice but absolutely do not fit a Weaver base. From what I've read on other forums they are normally a tight fit but these stupid things are .050" narrower than the base!

What kind of base is on the 541 and what kind of rings did you get? If you got Burris .22 rings (for 3/8 dovetail) they won't fit on a weaver base.......

The 541 has Weaver #15 bases on it and the rings are definitely supposed to be for Weaver type bases but in practice it isn't working. The base is .830 wide and the ring clamp is .780"

Do the rings have a cross bar under them to mate with the cross slot on the weaver base?

I don't know if you can spring them open, I haven't seen a set. I know the Lynx rings made to fit Weaver bases are often too tight and have to be sprung open a bit to get them on the bases.

Yeah, they do. They look in every way like they should do the job they're just too small

Take em back.....
That blows man. I had some burris rings for my .22 and I know why they went with plastic inserts....the rings were milled completly off center. I swore off them after that.....they workedfine but looked like hell.

I've had the same issue with both Burris "Z" rings & the B-Square 'Lynx' rings. Rings too tight to fit the Weaver bases. Like 'guntech' says they need to be 'sprung' open a bit. I've done this with mine by fitting a slot blade screw driver in the underside [remove the cross bolt first] and lightly tap with a small hammer [I use a Lyman 'brass tapper']. A couple of trys & you should find that the rings will slide on the Weaver bases.

Were your rings new? Sounds to me like someone already had them on a set of bases before... ;)

I have a brand new set of Burris Zee's and out of the package they fit loosely over my weaver bases. I bought them because I'd heard good things about them. Take a look at the relief cut for where they bend. does it look like it is closed up? On mine, the sides where cut are parallel.
