Hey all, the 2 Remington 700's I own need to get the fireing pin bushing installed. They both crater the crap outta primers, and it is not a pressure that is doing it. Anyone know what this would cost to get done? Should I even worry about it? Who should I send the bolts too?

PS the primers look exatly like these ones.

I am curious about the possible cause of this, if the loads are not all that hot. I know that if/when I get my Martini Cadet rechambered for a modern round (.222 or .357 mag) I ought to have the firing pin bushed but I would not have expected it in a modern rifle.

If it is not

piercing the primers I probably wouldn't worry about it. I did not get the bolt bushed for my Rem 700 6BR. I get some cratering but they are not piercing. This is with CCI 450 magnum primers. I think bushing runs around the 125.00-150.00 mark.

I see you made it home from Brandon okay............

RotaxPower,
Craige at A.C . Douglas in Saskatoondid one for me last year. 80 bucks if I remember right, and he really gets routine work out the door fast. Gailliard's also good, and he also has nothing but good to say abouy Linkaitus. I do know that Linkatus likes to put in extended internally bushings to keep the firing pin captive, but don't know the reason behind this.

Yup I made it home ok. But I pulled my hair out driveing down that 18th avenue :( They need to widen that out...
