Bushing a firing pin bolt hole for a Bergara rifle

Tried asking this in another thread but thought it might be easier to get a response if I just start something new.

So, for anyone here that has a Bergara from the B-14 line. Have you had your firing pin bolt hole bushed? If so, did you find it had any impact on primers? Bolt shroud? Why go the bushing route and not just a new bolt from the premier line?

Thanks,

A buddy of mine spent alot of time shooting 1,000 yard bench rest and he would have Speedy Gonzoles bush his bolts. Not a Bergara in particular... He has too many target guns to recall which ones he did it on.

He was confident that he could run higher pressures without popping primers, but he also felt that it produced a lower velocity spread.

I'm not sure I would bother doing it unless you're a hard core precision long range competitor who is consistently near the top.

Not a hard core long range competitor at all....being anti-social gets in the way ;)
Truthfully, I bought the Bergara a few years ago but always seem to find a way to take out something more familiar instead. Sooooooo its at the back of the safe, scoped and unfired!

I've been following the Tikka vs Bergara thread and the issue of oversized bolt holes came up and its effect on primers/bolt shrouds. I just figured if i'm ever going to move it to the front of the line then I may as well try to get any issues it might have resolved.

OP,
Like a Savage & other cheaply made plastic firearms manufactured today

Do not throw money at your Bergara, shoot it for it's intended purposes...a week end hunting rifle.

&
Bergara should not be associated w/ Target or Precision in any language.

Just got the replacement shroud in the mail. Thinking I’ll just install and list it...I don’t use it anyway. Thx
