Just kidding. Mine says multi-cal but there seems to be no other caliber kits available anywhere. Thinking of ordering a barrel blank and having a go at 300AAC. Anyone have any feedback on the gas port size needed to reliably cycle 300AAC?

^^^ You could say that about any rifle that wasn't .223 Rem., 7.62x39mm, or .22LR for example. Does that mean they're not worthwhile either?

You realize, of course, that you will have to 'cannibalize' your original barrel for the necessary parts to fit to your new barrel....
If that's not a problem, then have at 'er, and let us know how it works out.....

Will utilize the readily available .223 brass and 30 cal bullets to reload on a XL650. I was planning on removing the stock H/W and having it reverse engineered as I want to be able to switch back to .223 easily. Just wondering what size of gas port hole as a starting point. the view counter on this thread tells me there is some interest I will keep you posted.

Honestly, there have been teething issues with all the aftermarket stuff - from things as simple as shims to problems with canted gas blocks, piston stroking, etc. It's certainly not for the feint of heart... My advice is to wait for the bona fide 6.8SPC Bushmaster kits available later this year. Until we have access to factory ammunition, I think 300AAC is relegated to novelty status.
