Hey Guys,

Anybody have any info on the ACR? Before anybody flame me for not searching, I did, and it only came back with one thread (about the scar). Is there anyone one importing them in? How much? I'm sure that I'm not the only one interested, it's one awsome rifle!

When you search, it automatically sets the date range to "1 week" (bottom left quadrant of the search options), a lot of guys have problems with that, since it sets it at one week.

Im pretty sure there is a thread about it, but a lot depends on weather or not the US State Department will allow its export. It DOES have some things going for it (solid stock version) but would need some sort of perm. attached muzzle brake, or a non threaded barrel. Also, to get a non-restricted version you'd need an 18.5" barrel or longer, and I THINK they are only offering them in 16" barrel lengths right now.

For how much they COST, and how much they would cost once they got up here, you are better off going with a Robarms XCR or a Swiss Arms or something. They are very much available and parts and accessories for them already exist. Not to mention that the ACR is only in its first-generation, whereas the XCR is on its 3rd revision, and a lot of teething problems are gone.

ETA

2 threads for ya :D

I had a look at an ACR in a gun store in Minot on the weekend while I was shopping south of the border.

My initial impression was that it felt like a SL8 with slightly different furniture. It was slightly lighter but it had the same "feel"... it is hard to quantify. The fit and finish was very nice and the one thing that stood out was how smoothly the charging handle slid back.

I was already drooling when I handed the rifle back, and the guy behind the counter says "check this out!" and he throws a suppressor on the the barrel. I wanted it so badly... FYI the price was $2800. It was on display with some magpul sights and an Eotech, and I'm not sure what accessories were included with that price.

FYI, if you are ever in Minot,ND you have to check out the sportsmans loft. They had a Kriss, PS90, FS2000, assorted AUGs, countless ARs and rack after rack of assorted AKs, FALS, etc. The store is pretty much dedicated to black/military derived firearms. The upper floor is set up like a museum with a fantastic collection of WW2 firearms. Very friendly staff and they were happy to let the Canadian visitors handle the assorted unobtainable firearms.

Little off the topic but I fondled SCAR while also shopping south of the border and although is seemed like a very nice and tight firearm it is not worth the cost at this point in time. The main arguments of buying these firearms like modularity and ability to change calibers quickly are out the window for now because we can't get any extras here anyways. Like F22-Raptor mentioned XCR is a better choice today given the circumstances.
