Bushmaster BA .50 Legal here?

Was wondering if the Bushmaster BA.50 had any import restrictions against it as you don't see or hear of any for sale in Canada?

Not import restrictions, but serious EXPORT restrictions.
Shortly after 911 Bush decreed everything 50 caliber was non exportable from the US.
So the chances of seing 1 that is up here legally is zero or less. I seriously doubt Uncle Bam will recind this export ban.

Thanks for the replies thus far. So any U.S. made .50 is non exportable? Is this why the .50's that are available here are of European manufacture?

Yes
There are a few 50s that were outright banned by name by some mindless politician, but there are many that are non restricted firearms by Canadian law.
As mentioned Bush banned the export of all 50 cal stuff, so things like the Ferret 50 cal upper, some Armalite rifles etc were in Canada prior to his export ban, but since the cut off date no kore 50 cal has legally entered Canada from the US, which leaves us with looking to Europe to flll the void, or manufacturing our own here in Canada. There are a few makers here, but the market is small.

Is there anything that prevents a Canadian manufacturer from licensing a design from an American firm, so they can get right to production?

Nothing that I am aware of, but do not know for sure. The biggest problem is that there is just not that big a market in my opinion.
By the time 1 paid for the rights, tooled up and made enough of them to make a production run worthwhile I believe we would have several lifetimes worth of 50 cal uppers.
50 cal ammo and components are not cheap, barrels would need to be brought in from Eurpoe, which is not cheap, so overall I do not think that there is a viable market in Canada due to most guys having a freak out if things made here cost more than something similar that is made in the US.

There's a number of 500 Smith & Wesson firearms being offered here in Canada so I don't believe the export prohibition .50 cal. firearms is all inclusive. BMG, for sure.

True enough, I keep forgetting that there are some 50 caliber handguns and BP rifles and they are not affected by the ban.
When I think 50 it is 50BMG:D
