bushmaster carbon 15 97s ar-pistol

I tried one, a police SBR with iron sights, last year.

It was bought because the department had adopted the patrol carbine concept but their M4 didn't fit on their motorcycles. First impressions were good. It was very light and it balanced beautifully, even with a fully-loaded Beta-mag. Being brand-new, before taking it to the range I'd cleaned and lubed it.

We fired about 500 rounds with no stoppage and no issues (except for rather large groups). I would have preferred to have a quality red-dot optic on it, but, nonetheless, I came away impressed.

Besides the optic, a hand stop would be a good idea, in my opinion, but they did not fit the motorcycle rack. Another attachment that might make sense would be a glass-breaker mounted toward the muzzle.

Since then, I've been told that feedback (from the motorcycle patrol officers') has been very positive.

P.S.: It was 5.56 and had the the handguard from the below model.

The only issue i had... is that the carbon fibre cracked in the area around the drilled hole for the buffer retainer due to lack of material. This caused the carrier to get hung up.
The great part is i fixed it with crazy clue. I like them and i've been through dozens of ar variants both military and civilian.

I've heard both good and bad with them. The one I'm familiar with has now been altered with a full length BCG and carbine buffer assembly (tube/spring/buffer). It runs great like that without skipping a beat. It doesn't have a buffer retaining pin so if you do change it over to a 'carbine', when you split the halves, you have to catch the buffer. The threaded shank on the end of the barrel is longer than standard barrels as well.
I would double check the gas key bolts are staked properly. I don't think the polymer/carbon fiber (it doesn't seem like carbon fiber at all) is anywhere near as strong as an aluminum forging but as long as you don't use it as a baseball bat, you shouldn't have a problem.
