I have a Bushmaster XM15 I got new for a heck of a deal.
When the trigger resets there is this kind of clunky sproing noise. Is this normal on ARs or just cheap ARs?
Is it just me hearing the reset travel up the spring in the buffer tube?
Is there a fix (if it actually needs it) that isn't going to cost me the price of the rifle?

Standard. It is your disconnector resetting. You can witness this in action by pulling your upper off, decocking the hammer, holding down the trigger, pulling the hammer back. At this point you have replicated the firing cycle, and the disconnector has engaged the hammer to prevent the hammer riding the bolt forward. Release the trigger and you will see the hammer slip forward as the disconnector releases.

All two stage semi auto triggers do this to some extent, but it will be less with a quality aftermarket trigger if you want to experiment.
