Bushnell 3200 10x-40, a good start on a m305??

The UTG mount is not recommended. Mounting a scope on an M14 type rifle cannot be done cheaply if you want something that holds zero. Examples of good mounts include the ARMS 18, Springfield Armory 3rd generation, or Smith Enterprises. Bassett Machine also makes a couple of quick detach mounts that don't require removal of the stripper clip guide.

The Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 is decent for the money, but it's suitability depends on what sort of shooting you plan on doing. Keep in mind that 10x is a bit much for offhand shooting and an M14 isn't really a precision rifle.
 
I am not a Bushnell fan at all, but I have an Elite 3200 that I use for a beater scope, and it has never let me down. Very tough scope for the $. The scope came on a 375 H&H and never lost zero.
 
Ya good luck here also with the 10x 3200. one of the better deals out there on glass.I have mine mounted on a springfield gen 3 mount.No problems at all so far.

I tried, trust me can't be done right, don't even waste your time, get yourself a red dot and your all set for a scout setup, I event tried long eye relief scopes, the UTG handguard rail is designed for a scout setup, unless you get the stripper clip extention rail, from fab sports, but I'm pretty sure he's sold out.
 
I have the Bushnell 3200 on my arms 18 mount and its a pretty good setup - but as above 10x has its limitations. I find it kinda annoying shooting things at closer ranges and end up using my quick release rings frequently to get the scope out of the way. Next time i'm looking for glass for my m-14 its probably going to be a 3-9x.
 
We use a Bushnell 3200 10X fixed on two M14 we have and they work perfectly, I do have one mounted on a B-Square mount and on on an AKM stock. I have had some problems with the B-Square mount but the scope always hold Zero, I need to Loctite the mount before I say it's not up to par but I am leaning towards replacing it with something that I can't afford lol.
