I know theres a million threads out there on this scope, and I've tried searching but can't seem to find anything that answers my question. (and the search feature appears to be down right now?)

Anyways, I'm considering putting this scope on my cz 452 varmint, .22lr. What I want to know is how much will the 100 yard paralax setting affect shooting at closer ranges?

I'm not really concerned a great amount about target shooting at close range, but use the gun for gophers and wouldn't want to have to pass up on 10-25 yard shots because its too blury to find the gopher through the scope.

For the most part I like shooting my .22 anywhere from 100 to 200 yards, but definitely still want it to be useable for gophers at closer ranges.

Just wonder what experience people have with this scope at closer ranges? Will I be fine or should I spend the extra and get the 5-15 with adjustable objective?

I had one on my 10/22 but when we shoot club matches a 25 yrd target is involved and I could not focus at such a short range. I moved the fixed 10x to my .17hmr and put a 4-12 variable power on the 10/22 and and am happy. If we dident shoot a 25yrd target in the scoped .22 class at the club the fixed 10x would have stayed on the 10/22 because 50 yrd and past its a great scope.

I would go for a variable without an adjustable objective. Walking around shooting gophers is what I base my reasoning on. For those little buggers that show their head at 5 - 10 yards, try to find them at 10 power. Turning your power down to 3 is my answer and you can always go back to 9 or 10 for longer shots.

The Elite 3200 5-15 AO is a fine scope but it is leaving you with 2 adjustments to change from long to short range, power and objective. This may not be condusive to quick short range shots. That being said I have one on one of my 10-22's and love it but I mainly shoot steel targets at fairly fixed ranges with that gun. Parallax will only really affect you if you do not have a really steady cheekweld to the gun. If you do not move your head around too much and mount your gun exactly the same every time parallax will not be much of a problem.

I have one on my 10/22. Below 50y, forget it. Betwen 50y and 100y, you can use it but your eyes won't like you if you use it day long.

Thanks guys, those are exactly the type of experiences I was looking for. Guess I will look around a little more. Its currently wearing a 6-18X40 Bushnell Trophy and while I find it optically fine for what I want to use it for, the target turrets on that scope are numbered so weird I haven't been able to figure them out. It also creates a bit of a case of small gun big scope syndrom lol... looking for something that will look a little more at home on the gun with decent target turrets.

The BSA sweet .22 6-18x40mm or the 3.5-10x40mm should do it for you, got the target turrets, well made and well priced.
