I am looking for a scope for a 300 win mag i bought.. being on kinda a budget but still wanting something cool and fun i was looking at the bushnell 5-15 with turrets.. has anyone ever bought or used one of these scopes... it was priced at 439 i think.. is there any other scopes around this price range and power with turrets.. or should i just get a vx-1 4-12 and scrap the idea of turrets plese help me

I have one and I really like it. Decent image, good eye relief, adjustments work well. Its actually sitting on my 300WM heavy barrel rifle. I figure it will be good for sitting in a stand and taking a long shot. Its a good scope for the money.

I have not used that exact scope, but I have owned several Bushnells in the past and for the most part they provided good service for a decent price. I have been using the Vortex scopes and binos exclusively now for about three years, and I have been very impressed so far. The pricing is good, the warranty is awesome (I have never needed it yet--but I am trying!), and they seem to have the products that most shooters want. For a comparable scope, look at the Vortex Crossfire 4-16X50, I have one with the illuminated mil-dot reticle and I like the way it works. Just another option available to you if you are so inclined.

Have the exact scope you mentioned on my .223 and i love it ,but i am becoming a huge fan of falcon optics ( i have 3 ) might be work a look

oh geeze now i am in trouble had to take a look at the vortex after hearing so much about them on some forms now the question is which is a better scope the 3200 5-15 or the vorxtex crossfire4-16 i have heard that bushel can suck to deal with on warrenty issues how is vortex their page makes them sound like i can drive over it and get a new one

Anyone have the Vortex and can vouch for the turrets? Do they have good tracking and positive clicks? Is it hard to reset the turrets to zero? Looks like an Allen key on the side of the knobs. Not quite as nice of turrets as the Bushnell.

Warranty is excellent, I have never used it though. I have talked to the owner of Vortex Optics Canada on numerous occasions though at different shows, and he reassures me that he is not in the business of screwing someone if they have a legitimate claim. The warranty covers just about everything outside of product tampering.

Adjustments are precise and audible, it tracks well, and it will shoot a box if your rifle/ammo is accurate and you do your part. Putting the turrets to zero is exactly as you have described, very easy.

why would the magnification not be the best choice???

5x could be a bit much for close shots and 15x magnification is far more magnification than you will ever need for big game. Something like 1.5-6x, 2-7x, 3-9x or thereabouts would be a more versatile choice.

Do you plan on doing a lot of long range shooting that would require you make frequent scope adjustments, or would you just zero the scope and leave it? Unless you actually need them, target turrets only make the scope more cumbersome.
