I was about to get a Zeiss conquest 3-9X40 but I just found a good deal on a Bushnell elite 4200 with the firefly reticle. I've never used a 4200 so I'd like to know how the glass in these scopes compare to each other. Also has anyone on here used the firefly reticle and what would be your opinion of it. I've never used either brand of scope previously but I have plenty of experience with other types of Zeiss optics, how does the 4200 stack up? I'm especially interested in its performance in low light conditions Any opinions?

I've been looking at scopes lately too and to my eyes the Zeiss the seem far better.Compared the Zeiss 3x9 and the Zeiss 3.5 x 10 x 44 with the new Kahles 3.5 x 10 x 50 KX , now I don't know about quality of construction between the two brands but for clarity the Zeiss were on par with the Kahles. Also looked through the Bushnell and some Leupolds. The Zeiss 3x9 seems to me like the most scope for the money. Any good deals out there on a Zeiss scope , they sure have gone up in price in the last year.

I was looking for a quality low light conditions scope and the Elite 4200
2.5x10x40 Firefly was really Impressive Light transmission of 95% really good optics very crisp .I was so Impressed I left with 2 of them !
The thing that turns some people off with them is the Firefly reticle is thicker
so the glow will be enough for low light. The middle of croshairs is fine however , and once you wrap your head around that fact that it HAS to be thicker to viewed in near darkness then it makes perfect sense .

Some just Judge it as plain ugly and cant get past the thick firefly reticle .

It comes with a small flashlight to charge up the firefly reticle 2 minutes and it good for about 2 hrs . Great scopes they are made in Japan formerly Known as the Baush and Laumb co and bought up by Bushnell .

Real quality and a lifetime warrantee ...you cant go wrong

I too was looking at a zeiss scope. Been checking the forums out and the 4200 has come up as being a great scope. Would be a toss up for me the zeiss reputation precedes it self.

Friend of mine has owned both and he tells me the Zeiss is superior to the 4200....Although the Elite's are great scopes!! I have one on all my Rifle's!!!
