Hi need some help and guidance.

If I am to sight a Bushnell AR223 3-9x40 at 25m do I have to set the parallax dial to inifnity or approx 25y on the side parallax dial?

I was able to sight it in at 25m and moved at 100m, adjusted both windage and elevation to hit the target within 3 inches. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention on what my parallax dial was at this point.

I moved back to 25m, and I was off to the lower left of the target.

I started adjusting the parallax again and I wasn't able to get the scope sighted in so I called it a day.

I need to start back to the basics.

First thing you need to do is set your occular lense ( the fast focus lense on the back of the scope). Aim at a clear blue sky or a white wall. Now look throught the scope and close your eyes for a few seconds. Now open your eye and the reticle should be crisp and clear right away ( your eyes will ajust rather fast and after a few seconds the retical will seem clear) If the reticle is not clear as soon as you open your eye then it needs to be ajusted. keep ajusting the occular lense untill it is clear right away, start with the lense turned in and keep turning it outwards.

Now that the occular lense is set aim at a target and ajust the side focus ( parallax) untill the target is crisp and clear. The numbers on the side focus nob are just a guide line. Once the parallax is set look through the scope and move your head slightly side to side and up and down if the reticle dose not move on the target then the parallax is set. If the reticle still moves a bit on the target then the parallax needs a finer ajustment.

Hope this helps. There is a few vidios on youtube explaing this if you not understand my explanation of this procedure.

Thanks for the tips. I'll go back to the range next month and will try again. For scopes with power, is it best to sight it closest to the highest power while the target is still visible?
