Bushnell Banner parallax problem

So I was monkeying around with the lenses and stuff on my Bushnell banner dusk and dawn scope. This unit is a set parallax 3-9x40 and I think I have screwed it up. How can I reset this unit?

As I turn the objective lens I believe I'm adjusting parallax... as I do this, the crosshairs go out of focus. Is it as simple as looking through the scope, turning the objective until the crosshairs don't move when I move my eye? I BELIEVE it's a 50yd fixed parallax, but I don't know. If that's the case, I suppose I need to set up a target at 50yds to do this properly...

Help! :D

If the scope is made for a high powered rifle, ie centrefire, it is not likely to be set for no parallax at 50 yards. It would more likely be 100 yards or more. I would do as you suggest, and take it to the range, set it up on a rest and adjust until you can move your eye around and not have the cross hairs appear to move on a target at 100 yards. Hopefully this will concide with a sharp image at that distance (and others!).

If its a 22 calibre scope, then it will likely be set for 50 yard.

It's centerfire so I'll try to set it up at 100.

If there is a rear adjustment ring, your parallax is fixed at 100yrds and the adjustment ring is there only to focus the reticle for your eyesight. Aim at a blank part of the sky so your eyes don't try to focus anywhere else than the reticle.
Turn the adjustment ring until it is in sharp focus then block it with the locking ring.
That's all you can do.
PP.

Good points. I'm imaging what he's describing, but my imagination could be way out. When he said he turned the objective lens, I'm picturing the lense set that faces the target, and that he somehow was experimenting with rotating it. I've done that by removing the ring on the objective bell of the scope, then the objective lens group is free to rotate to change the parallax setting.

How about confirming what go you into this mess?
