Bushnell DMR: Oversized Scope Tube?

So I picked up my new Bushnell DMR today. I start to mount it and notice that the scope fits very tightly in my Near Alphamount. When I set the scope in the mount it doesn't contact the bottom of the ring and requires pressure to go down all the way, front and back. When I remove the scope there are marks on the tube but I can wipe them away with my finger.

I found this very unusual especially since I have used this mount before with another scope and it worked perfectly. I called Richard at Near Mfg and he had never heard of this issue with this particular scope before. He figured that perhaps my scope is slightly out of spec, and that combined with the tight tolerances his mounts are built to is causing the issue. Based on my description of how tight the scope was he said that it wasn't optimal, but shouldn't cause any issues. He also recommended that I torque the mount down before I mount the scope.

So have any of you guys experienced this before? What would you do in my situation? To be honest with you I'm going to probably go with Richard's recommendation and mount the scope but I figure some other input can't hurt.

P.S: A quick shoutout to Omer at Plainsight Solutions. Great guy to deal with and the scope was packaged very well for shipping.

I had this same experience with my Bushnell XRS 4.5-30 and the Near alpha mount, I decided to not use it and go with a Spuhr one instead. It fit perfectly in the Spuhr mount and any other 34mm rings I used it in.

Was yours as tight as what I described? Would you have been totally against mounting it?

Well I mounted the scope and went to the range today. After 30 rounds I'm confident that there are no issues. Tracking is dead on and parallax adjustment works as it should. Very impressed with the scope as well. Based on the small number of responses to this thread I guess this is a very rare occurrence, perhaps even unique to this mount and scope combo.

Had a similar incident with my ERS and TPS steel rings. The fit felt a bit more snug than how it sat in the previous Burris Xtreme rings. As I stared installing the tops of the rings, the scope sat down perfectly in both the front and rear rings. I thought I had scuffed it so I removed the rinfs and checked the scope tube and did not see any marring. Replaced the scope and secured the ring uppers as per TPS instructions and torqued to spec. Locked up beautifully.
