Has any one had experience with the new Bushnell DOA reticles. Im going to be getting a new deer rifle soon and need help with the optics. Im set on a tikka t3 lite in 270 win. I don’t want to spend over $400 for a scope and the bushnell elite 3200 3-9x40 stood out to me. I would appreciate your impute on this scope and any experience with the DOA reticles. If you have any onther suggestions for a scope let me know any why. I will be getting it at wholesale sports so they would have to stock it.

Thanks for the help
Brad

The 3200 are a good bang for the buck. Do you realy need the DOA recticles depends on what distance you'll be hunting. Taking realy long shot in open counrty, the DOA may be usefull. I personaly would chose the models with the 4x12 w/OA(adjustable objective)lens for a flat shooting 270.

I have something similar, a Burris scope with its "Ballistic Plex", very similar to DOA. Its a good fast system to give you repeatable holdovers, but I would not take a shot at any distance at game that I haven't first tested the point of impact for that holdover first at the particular distance.

I've had a number of scopes with the Boone & Crockett reticle (Leupold) and it works exactly as advertised.

Having checked out the DOA reticle, I think it will work well also, but I have one major complaint, and that is with the deer rack bracketing/range estimating feature. I feel that windage hold points would be a better choice, which is how the B&C, Ballistic Plex, Z-Plex and other ballistic reticles are set up.

It still seems a good feature and a value for the price, which is what most Bushnell scopes are about anyway.

How far could a 270 win shoot and still have what it takes to bring a deer down? I live in the prairies so I have lots of space to shoot; would a 4-12X40 make that much difference for how far the gun can shoot compared to a 3-9X40? What scope power would best suite the 270 win.? And what exactly does a adjustable objective lens do? I know I’m throwing a lot of questions out there but every little bit helps. I haven’t heard any bad things about the 3200 elite with DOA reticles so I think that’s what I’m going to get but now I’m re-thinking the scope power.

Thanks again
Brad

It sounds like with the DOA reticles, you have to be on max power for the 200-600 yard points to work.

"The user can sight-in at 100 yards on any magnification setting, but for the ballistic reticle feature to function properly, the scope’s magnification must be set to the correct power." ie 3-9x 40 = 9x power, 4-12x 40 = 12x power etc.

At 200 yards would a 14x scope be to much for a deer? or 4x be to much for shots under 100 yards?
