Thinking of trying this scope out on a Ruger gunsite scout rifle.

Mounted forward on the picatinny rail.

Specs say Leupold QR "low" rings should be a good match for this scope if my research is correct.

I'm just wondering if anybody has used the Leupold QR "low" rings and had any problems with mounting.

I would like to keep the scope as low to the barrel as possible.

Feedback appreciated.

I don't know about the rings you'll need for the Ruger, but I would caution you about the scope. I assume it's the 2-6x32mm? I thought that would be the perfect choice for my Steyr Scout, but the eye relief is much too long for mounting in the scout position, at least for me. Before you buy any handgun scope for your scout, check the specs or better still actually handle the scope itself to make sure it will work when mounted at the intermediate position...many of them won't. In my case, I need about 11-inch eye relief for things to work well...many handgun scopes have more like 20 inches.

I too am thinking that a handgun scope's eye relief is for an outstretched arm which is much further away than a scout scope on a rifle.

Exactly correct! A handgun scope is an "extended eye relief" optic, whereas a scout scope is usually called an "intermediate eye relief" optic. There's lots of overlap and variation, but you need to be aware of what you need and what you're getting.

I've read a few reviews on other forums and it seems to pair well with the GS. Reviews have been positive but the warnings are noted. QR rings are what I'm interested in researching right now. Everything I've read say Low rings will still give enough cleareance. Would meadium height rings give any advantage over the low?
