Is this a good choice for a hunting/target 243 rig? Can a fellow do better in the sub 450$ range?

How does it compare to a Burris 4.5 x -14 x -42mm Fullfield II Ballistic Plex in the same 400$ range?

I have a Burris FFII 3-9x40 ballist plex, and while it gives you holdovers, it doesn't have tactical knobs like the Bushnell tactical. The tactical knobs may be an unwanted protuberance in the bush, but they allow precise adjustment for elevation and windage that would wouldn't otherwise have. With the use of ballistic software, and or your own testing, you can build a chart of holdovers at desired incriments over the range of distance you intend to shoot. On my 22, that's pretty much every 25 yards you want an adjustment if you are going to be right on from say 25-200 yards.

You're just the guy to talk too it seems... awesome .

If I get the bushnell, what rings should I be looking at for a T3 lite rifle? I'm looking for lowest rings possible. I think I remember reading that T3's come with factory rings?!...If so do the stock ones suffice you think? If not what should I buy that's reasonably priced?

Would my choice of rings change if I decided to get a T3 varmint instead?

I had a T3 Lite in 308. Great rifle. It didn't come with rings or bases. The factory plan is that you buy their proprietary bases that lock into their dovetail and use their optiloc rings. A pretty pricey setup (approx $150), but nice because the optilocs use plastic inserts like the Burris Customs ($60 rings).

I opted so save money, and used Leupold bases and rings (blued, around $70). The receiver top has tapped holes for installing alternative bases. Cost less than $80 if I recall correctly. With a 3-9x40 scope I'd use low rings. Always best to buy rings at a store that allows returns, that way if you goof, you can swap them for the next higher.

I've got a new Bushnell Elite 4 x 16 x 40mm on a T3 lite. The objective lens end measures 52mm in diameter. If your 40mm Elite 3200 has the same diameter then extra low OptiLock rings and Tikka bases will clear with a bit of room to spare. These are the bases and rings I used. And, yes, there are cheaper options out there, but after looking at them I opted for this set up and like it very much. If you opt for Optilock rings, check this link out:

It's what I used to figure out which ring height I needed. The only thing that may cause you to need a higher mount height might be the fact that the T3 Varmit has the raised comb (cheek piece) which may put your eye (line of sight) higher then the reticle. If this is the case you may need a higher mount. So in that case, just like Grizzlypeg said, it's a good idea to buy from somewhere where you can easily exchange them, or better yet bring the scope and rifle to the store with you. Hope you figure it out soon so you can get in some trigger time. And if my 2 cents matter I think the 3200's are great scopes for the price.
