I own a Remington Model 700 BDL in .270W
I have a Bushnell trophy 1.75-5 X 32mm Wide Angle I just feel I need a little more power in case of a longer shot.
I'm looking to go to a 3-9 X 40mm DOA Bushnell Elite or The Leopold VXII
I want to hear your opinions.
Thanks

I'd go Leupold. Every Leupold scope I have is excellent for the price point, and the VX II is no slouch. Yes, at higher price points there are better, but at the lower end, the VX II should be pretty good.

Every Leupold I've owned (at least 14) has been excellent. Can't say the same about Bushy, though their glass is good I've had problems with them mechanically.

I have three Leupolds VX-111 (1.5x5 and a 2.5x8) one VX-11 (3x9) and Vortex viper (3x9) and two Bushnell Elites (3x9). I have tested them all half hour after sunset. believe it or not the Bushnell's finished first followed by the Vortex and then the Leupold's. I didn't want to believe it so I did it again when my brother was over and he agreed no doubt about the Bushnell wins, I would go with Bushnell. As a matter of fact I might never buy another Leupold not because I think they are a bad scope, but they are a rip off in Canada.

I had a 4200 Elite 2.5-10x50 on my BLR and received a new 3-9x40 VX II under warranty.
Not much of a difference until it starts to get dusk to dark.
Here the Leupold made a huge difference.
I would imagine in fog or darker/shadowy legal shooting conditions is where the Loopy's shine
more better.
Pulled the 4200 and dressed the lever with it.
Didn't hert me feelings either way.

Good luck with those peoples that own/purchased Leupold scopes from outside of Canada, Leupold Canada will not warranty any of those scopes purchased from the states etc. Leupold Canada will only warranty the ones that is/was purchased in Canada...so, Bushell +1 and Leupold can suck it. I will pick up a Vortex/ Bushnell Elite scope over Leupold any day.

ive had bushnell elite 4200 and 6500s i sold them all and bought leupold vx3. i never had to send a bushnell in for warranty but they are heavier and not as good in low light. but those are vx3 im using. ive never had a vx2 so maybe they compare to elite 4200

Both work fine. I dont buy leupold scopes anymore though. Bushnell elite is fine at lower cost, and there are better options than leupold at leupold prices.

i was one of the best Leupold fan before working in a retail hunting shooting place ... never seen a bushnell sent to be repaired and i have seen a lot of high ends Leupold not working well but that is just my opinion. and sometimes the canadian importer was not able to fix even saying so ...

Buy Leupold, period!!

Bushnell's warranty sucks, in my experience. Takes them a long time to get their act together. I waited 6 months to get a 4200 back repaired.

Leupold's turnaround is usually 10 days to 2 weeks at Korth in AB.

While I have some variables, for hunting, many of my rifles wear the excellent 6x42 Leupy.

I have about 9 of these, and so far, not a glitch, even on the heavies.

Regards, dave.
