Which would have the better glass?

I have a 1-4 engage and it seems superior to my elite 3200 2-7. Looking for a new scope and was wondering how the engage would compare to the 4500

From my experience the bushnell elite scopes exceed the engage series...I wonder if there is something wrong with your 3200?

In broad day light theyre about equal. The engage is a little better for color but in first light and last light the engage seems sharper and brighter to my eyes. My forge beats both and my nightforce beats the forge to my eyes.

South korea. The new elites are said to still be made in japan but im not sure.
Country of original doesnt mean anything to me. You can send expensive machines and tooling anywhere and get the quality control you pay for. Whether it comes at $20 a hour or a extra bowl of rice a day as long as i can clearly see the reticle on a deers chest in the bush in the first or last few minutes of legal light thats all i care about
Lately ive been liking smaller lower power optics in the 1-4 or 1-8 range. Just dont want the weight of the forge or nf on my muzzleloader

Don't know about the older 3200 series, but my 3500 Elites has very clear bright glass. But who knows, maybe the engage is brighter as I haven't owned one. The glass on the 3500 and 4500 series are the same.

I drove down to london and compared the bushnell elite 4500 1-4×24 to the prime 1-4×24. The elite was far sharper and better in seeing things in the lower light and shadows of the shop. The prime was much narrower fov as well. The illuminated g4 of the prime was much nicer. Comparing the elite 4500 to my engage 1-4×24 they are very similar in fov and sharpness and color. Still the elite is noticeably lower in optical quality than my forge 1-8×30.
For the $309 price tag im happy with the elite 4500 but if theyd of had the engage with the g4 reticle i would have likely bought it again as i prefer that reticle over the multi x

brybenn: the reticle is part of the low light performance. one of the best was the elite 1.25-4x24 with german 4 and illuminated point but the eye relief was really on the low side.

i will do some lowlight test between some scope and come back.

Just bought a Bushnell 4500 today from Cabelas. It’s their wild Wednesday sale so they’re $50 off if I remember correctly. Not bad glass for the price.

What power range?
Im sitting in the truck here at 530am and watching 2 coyotes across the field in the dark with this 4500 1-4×24. Not much ambient light. Just a couple parking lot lights and the odd patch of snow cover where the grass is flattened.

My 1-8×30 forge is very good in low light. Not far behind my nf during those last 30 mins of legal light

Anybody knows the difference between 4200 ad the 4500 series?

Have several 4200s on different firearms by far my favorite hunting scope for the price point would like to try the 4500 if anyone has both I would like to hear your opinion.

Thank you in advance.

Now that the sun has come out a bit and i have full day light comparing the engage to the 4500 the engage is brighter and sharper
The 4500 has a a tiny advantage in lower light.
Comparing them during the first minutes of legal light on a cloudy day both were very good. Both come no where near a nightforce but for their 300 to 310 dollar asking price they are superb scopes for close to mid range hunting i do

The difference in the original elite line, discontinued in 2012, was the higher the model number the higher the grade of glass used as well as magnification factors. The only scopes still made in Japan is the Elite line with all other models being manufactured in China or South Korea and some models in either country. Hope this helps. I have owned a few of the japanese 3200 and 4200 scopes and have had great experiences with both. Had an Elite 6500 and no complaints there either.

This new 4500 elite is marked korea. If you are local to the chatham kent area you are welcome to meet up at the local range and try this 4500 elite once its mounted. I have the engage and forge as well

I bought a 3500 (3-9x50) last week and it has made in Japan on it. Glass is pretty good for the 249.00 sale price I paid for it. :)
