Bushnell Forge 4.5-27×50 opinions

My buddy is looking at picking this model up. I have never owned a Bushnell personally.

Just wondering if anyone here has tried these newer Forge scopes? And their thoughts on it good or bad? Glass quality, image quality and tunneling at min and max magnification ranges etc.

And last but not least, tracking...

I've used a lot of budget scopes and consider myself someone who accepts different qualities of gear as long as they function as intended and ultimately get the job done. But the glass quality in the forge was not good enough to make me want to buy one. If they were 500
$ I would consider it, but not at 1000$.

Thanks for the link. I went through some pages looking for a thread but must have missed that.

Sounds like glass quality is the biggest complaint.

This gets asked all the time on here...but other options? He wants to spend $1500 max. The Forge is about $1000 now with rebate. I see Sightron pop up alot on here. Athlon seems to be pretty good from what I hear. Vortex has options.

I normally wouldn't ask, but I don't know much about mid tier scopes. I either own cheap for playing around with. Or expensive. Nothing in between.

Leupold VX3i LRP

If I was going to get a mid range Bushnell, I’d jump up to the LRTS/LRHS series

I picked one up back during the Boxing week sales. I haven't been spoiled by a Nightforce or S&B or other high-end scopes so I can't say how the optics compare to those. It's pleanty clear for me to see my bullet holes at 200yrds and read street signs some 400yrds away. I have the Bushnell ET6245FG with G2 reticle on another rifle. The Forge looks clearer with better contrast and better eye relief at 24/27x. It's nice to say save for a Nightforce when you can afford to but my budget and practical needs don't warrant that kind of spending.... When I win the lottery, I'll sing a different tune. lol

Count yourself lucky and do yourself a favour, don’t ever look through a NF, you’ll never look at your Forge the same way again:)

Pay attention to the elevation moa adjustment. I think it comes in pretty low for a scope that size. Might not work that well at long distances. 50 moa of adj according to Bushnell's site. That's not enough to use a 20 moa rail. The 3-18x50 has 80 moa of adj, that's the scope I have. The reticle sold me with the hollow square and a dot in the center. It's available on FFP. SFP has a different reticle.

I had a long hard look at these scopes the last month or two at the place I work.
The glass looks great to say the least, and the turret clicks are as crisp feeling and sounding as either my niteforce or mark 4's.
The real test will be in low light conditions, and in an honest box test.

The colour of the scope is very eye catching (even if it means nothing).

The scope line seems a bit heavy, but very well designed and presented!

I have an opportunity to get a few of these scopes and test them on a few proven match rifles to prove their repeatability.

I need to wait a few more weeks until I can get them, but will look at returning here and post a few field results.

I am hoping to purchase all three versions (2.5-15, 3-18, and 4.5-27).

At this time in my collection, I have a few rifles without scopes, and this seems to be the easiest way to get some decent glass that has allot of higher end options at a more palatable price point.

My way of thinking is that if I make this "smaller" investment, I can at least give the product a more detailed report as to its ability (and MERIT) to achieve their designed purpose.

I have previously been rather shocked at some scope models ability to perform far beyond their price point over the last few years.

AS I have stated earlier, I have used and owned some very high quality optics, and have nothing negative to say about them here. I just cannot afford to have Nightforce, and Leupold mark 6's on all the rifles I don't have scoped at the moment.

Hopefully I can get this review set done sooner rather than later, but I am also a father, dealing with an aging parent, and that takes up allot of my free time.

I have the 2.5-15 version on my sig cross in 6.5 and all i can say is it has amazing glass it passes the box test with flying colours reviews are very good on these. Only downside for me on the cross is the weight i wish it was a bit lighter other than that it’s a keeper rumour has it Bushnell dropped the forge line cause guys were buying these over there tactical line due to much lower price point
