Don't know if this will help you decide or not but had a discussion about this sight with our Bushnell rep a few days ago - were talking about why it discontinued.
The Holosight was a "first generation" EOTech design - Bushnell was the "retail" marketer for the product. The first gen did "not" meet military specifications.
EOTech worked on/produced the "gen 2" which did meet milspec. This drove the price up and Bushnell decided the price point (primarily for hunters) would be too high and discontinued the product.
