Ok so I bought one of the new bushnell laser rangefinder scopes. What should I put it on .204 with 32 gr v-maxs or 22-250 with 55 gr V-maxs? Both are pushing maxium pressure on handloads

Gyman98,
How are you liking your scope? Have you had a chance to use it much in the field? I have been looking at the Burris Laser Rangefinding scope but the Bushnell comes with a mildot retical which I prefer. I am interested in your overall impression of the Bushnell's quality and ruggedness.
Thanks.

Ive mounted a Bushnell laser scope, what a big huge heavy clunker! for $900, Id rather buy a $500 riflescope and a $400 rangefinder

I've been wondering about these new laser rangefinding rifle scopes myself. I'm still waiting to receive my new, custom built .308 LRB Arms M14SA (with M25 receiver) and I want to put a scope on it that is worthy.

I've been thinking of putting my Springfield Armory 4X14X50mm from another M14S I own, but I really like the idea of the built in rangefinder.

So far, I've seen: too heavy! prefer good scope and separate rangefinder!
I've also seen: if you use it in a real battle, you are illuminating yourself to become the target.

I'd be VERY interested in hearing from others that have tried both all-in-one laser rangefinder scope and scope and laser rangefinder separate. I've searched through this site, but I'm sure there are more recent experiences as they become popular.

This would go for any I.R. transmitter if you suspect the enemy employing laser detectors or NVG's, etc.

Personally at my age I don't expect to be using this on a battlefield, unless Canada gets invaded. My main concern would be bulk as I was thinking of mounting it on my SL8-4. A seperate rangefinder would give the added flexibility of utilizing it with other rifles. The best option might be a set of binoculars with the laser rangefinder built in and a good quality scope with mildot reticle as a back up means of rangefinding. The new Leica Geovid 8X56's look quite nice but the price must be way up there.

As far as hunting optics go, the Bushnell laser range finding rifle scope represents the rev 1.0 of this type of technology. I am waiting to see where things go from here, smaller and better I am sure.
In retrospect, I remember hauling around 1st gen ambient NV on an FN C-1. The military version of that application has come a long way since.

I really like it overall. I don't use the bdc to often, maybe three times or so. I mounted it on a Tikka 22-250. So far I've shot 150 coyotes and 20 foxes with it and it hasn't lost zero yet. I'm not hard on my equipment but I'm not easy on it either and I've walked about a hundred miles this season with it slung on my shoulder. Someone was asking for a pic so I hope this works.

Judging distance gets harder as the range increases, so for best value for money, put that expensive tool on the rifle you use most for long range work.
