Bushnell Legend 5-15x40mmAO Mil-Dot?

Legend 5-15X 40mm A/O

I've got one on my 52 repro. I haven't given it any serious bench work yet. It seems to hold zero well. It's a heckuva improvement over the Tasco 6-24X that I went to S.I.R. to look at, and not buy. Brightness seems o.k. up to about 11X, then fall off becomes noticeable beyond that in dusk lighting situations. The exit pupil thing takes a bit of getting used to at the top end of the magnification- seems to be more critical where I plunk my cheek down on the comb. Personally, I think it's a bit on the large side for the woods hunting that I do. Any one notice the Browning version of this scope at twice the cost? Looks to be the same scope to my eye....

Best low-light scope I've ever used is the Bushnell Banner 4-12X 40 mm A/O- and that's about as much physical dimension, and magnification that I really need. The Legend will get a proper work-out this spring- I'd like to try some extreme long range coffee can shooting with the old repro.

I've got an older B&L Elite 3000 5-15x50mmAO on another rifle [a Rem 700 in .264 Win Mag] but I really don't care for the 50mm objective lenses. I've never felt the need for anything larger than a 40mm objective. [This B&L with the 50mm was a good deal]....... I'm thinking that a 5-15x40mmAO would be more than fine for my purposes. I'm mostly shooting off the bench at paper at 100 yards on relatively good weather days.

What I'm after in this thread is anyone who has experience with the new Legend series in 5-15x40mmAO mil-dot scopes. Are they relatively good value for the money. [Yes, I know they aren't an Elite 4200 or a Leupold VX-III... and yes, I know "you get what you pay for"...]

Regards, NAA.

Ive currently got two of them.My son just took his first elk with one on his sub moa weatherby. We also shoot the weatherby .3006 at the range with this scope and it performs great. It doesnt have as large an adjustment range as the higher end scopes but if your rings and bases are true, its excellent value.Great light gathering even with 40mm, adl objective is awesome yet a little stiff to turn on them both(maybe to keep adjustments) 5x15 is easy and smooth to operate and the optics crystal clear!!

You cant go wrong!!
