Bushnell Legend - how to use Ballistics App?

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Bushnell Legend which was advertised with the Ballistics App. The Legend I bought was with the illuminated multi X reticle. My question is likely a noob question. I'm not sure how the app works with this reticle. I thought with the Ballistics App the reticle needed hold-over marks, but my reticle just has the crosshairs. I'm sure I'm just missing something obvious here, so if anyone could just explain why I'm being stun that'd be greatly appreciated.

Here's what I bought:

Hey MT - You're right about needing some sort of hold-over marking, which the Legend Multi-X doesn't have, to use any sort of app like that. I use the Nikon on-line calc and it just tells you how many inches to hold for a shot if you have a multi-X, so you need to judge pretty closely to get a good hit. Personally, I just bought a Cabelas Covenant scope, not yet arrived. http s://www.cabelas.ca/product/87344/cabelas-covenant-tactical-ffp-riflescopes - it's 6-24x50 with MOA Christmas tree. The hash marks have MOA numbers so I don't have to 'count the bars' like on the Bushnell Engage Deploy MOA I have on my B-22. The new scope goes on that, and the B moves to the Marlin60. I've read that the glass on the Covenant gets a bit blurry at top mag, but I'm just shooting paper anyway. I find the MOA bars make it really easy to figure holds w/o having to change the turrets, like if I go to diff distances on the same run.
I have a couple rifles with 'hold dots' but I find they're not very helpful for target shooting - good for long shots if hunting but not very 'fine' for measuring hits. Maybe you can take that back and get something with MOA or MIL ??
BTW -I appreciate your comments on the Wilderness threads, but really those guys will never learn - they still think MrT is Yahweh, too.
YMMV

The App is self-explanatory... just spend a few hours playing with it. I have 5 profiles set-up and it works great! I use my Fenix 6x watch to provide me wind direction, wind speed, altitude and barometric pressure, but you can grab that off a smart phone as well. It's an excellent app, second only to the Nikon app. You need to do some Internet research to find specs on the bullets you use (muzzle velocity and BC).

Here's a few example screen captures...

Hey K - That's nicer than the Nikon Calc, but unfortunately his scope only has a 'small + cross-hair'. My Vortex 4-12x40 has BDC dots like that, as does my Bushnell DOA, and I've been using the Nikon to get dope for them. Tho they don't have Nikon scopes, I can find a Mag and Ret that looks right and hits OK. Here's the link to Nikon calc I use : h ttp://spoton.nikonsportoptics.com/spoton/spoton.html#Index:16

The app is still good for the Multi-X reticle because it also provides a detailed bullet drop table ("range card"), so you can fiddle with elevation and windage.

Hey, I figured out how to get a screenshot into this thread  This is what I use for my Bushnell DOA scope. I didn't know about the B app. I bought the scope b4 the app came out.

Note - I just went on B site and find that this is iOS and Android only. I don't run data on my phone. The Nikon runs on my PC.

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I really appreciate it! I think I know what's up, now. I was so confused at first.
