Bushnell Legend ok for 12ga slug gun?

I might be able to pick up a brand new 3-9x40 Legend for a good price and thinking of getting it for my H&R Ultra Slug Hunter 12 ga shotgun.

Do you guys think the scope will withstand the recoil?

How much were they when they were still available?

It may or may not. I've read many opinions. Some guys had issues after only a few dozens shells, some didn't.
Slug recoil is fierce. Using a 14oz scope I've had the base screws bend and break after less than 100 shells. I decided to go with iron sights.
 
I've used a nikon prostaff 2-7x32 on my 12 gauge slug gun for the past 2 seasons without any issues, only about 25 shells through it. Lebaron's has the legend 2-7 on sale now for $113.94.
 
I have a trophy on my TC Omega and usually load to 150 grains and have had no issues...although only 50 or so shots. I think the recoil is similar to slugs in my BPS.
