Today I bought the 10x42 Bushnell Legend Ultra HD Binoculars with my CDN Tire money. Very happy with the optics although I was disappointed to see they are made in China:(. The end caps are garbage; otherwise they seem well made with great optics for the price. Anyone else have these? If so, how have they held up?

Yeah I was looking at those myself, they're supposed to be the best bang for your buck in the sub $500 category but I haven't gotten my hands on them yet. I'm also leaning towards the vortex 10x42 talon hd's, they're also pretty damn nice for under $500, but they're also made in china...

I bought the elite ED 10x42 by bushnell in the last few months, they are made in japan and seem quite nice. The original legends I used for years and were very rugged, and quite a nice view. They were also made in Japan.

The original legends I would rate one step below the Nikon Monarchs for best bang for buck. The new Legends, I have no idea, please let us know what you think after a few weeks of use. Thanks

I have them in 8x42. They are very good but for my eyes not quite enough ER. I also have the older elite 8x43 and have directly compared the two. The Legends have alot bigger FOV and are just a tad brighter. The Elites are clearer near the edges and overall are a little nicer to look through. Fit and finish go to the Elites as they are open bridge and built like tank yet super light. The Ultra HD are an excellent bin though at their price point, I also had a pair of Steiner Peregrine XP for awhile and compared the two. Strangely enough I found the Legends to be just as bright in low light conditions and nearly as sharp in the sweet spot as the Peregrines. That says a lot for a sub $300 bin considering the Steiners retail at $1600.

My biggest beefs with the Ultra HDs is the short ER and the blur near the edges. I also had the nut on the center pivot come loose a couple times. No big deal, just tightened it up and it's all good again.

I just picked up the 10 x 26 compact ones. Took them along shed hunting tonight to try them out. Only found one shed. The binos seem to be OK for the money. I tried them in full daylight up until dusk. Color was good, nice light weight, and somewhat armoured. They claim they are water proof and nitrogen filled to prevent fogging.
