<Local Armorsmith> You can't put a 130$ Bushnell Legend 3x9 40mm on a Ruger American 30-06 .. that is crazy.. you should be buying __<whatever-i-got-in-stock>__ scope instead.

Crazyness or not ?

I know sky (wallet) is the limit but if i already have an extra Bushnell Legend in hand... Do you think a Ruger American Rifle 30-06 can work well with a Bushnell Legend 3x9 40mm ?

Any opinions are welcome..

Thank you for your input!

Older Legends were good scopes, newer ones are made in China and are not as good. Depends which one you got I guess.

3-9x40mm is suitable for about 99% of what you'd use a .30-06 hunting rifle for. Bushnell models vary in quality from hardly-worth-having to excellent. The Legend series is not their best but not their worst, either. If you got a good one, it'll do the job on that Ruger. Try it, use it as long as it works unless/until you think of something you'd particularly like.

I have a couple of original legends and they are very good scopes for the money. The American is a very light rifle so i would suspect recoil will be punishing to optics.Since you already have it,give it a try.Nothing to lose.IMO,these scopes are on par with nikon prostaffs.

YOU HAVE TO SPEND A BRAZZILON DOLLHAIRS,3,000 000 x power 7000mm objetive etc etc etc(ps I use a 20mm cannon for shooting gophers!)

I have a few older Legends that have stood up to more than double the recoil of a bolt 30-06 and hole zero perfectly. For the price they were purchased for I wished I had got more.
