I picked up a Ruger PC Carbine with the std stock on it. I have found out I have a bit of an astigmatism and the Venom I was going to install is a starburst. Was reading up on 1x prism sights as I would like something with no magnification, illuminated reticle, and eched glass.

In my search I found the Bushnell Lil P as an option. Two things I have read is that even the low base may be high, and the eye relief is quite short.

Has anyone tried one out on a std stocked rifle or shotgun mounted to the rear of the receiver? If so, what did you think about the cheek weld and the eye relief possibly causing problems with the view through it?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I have one mounted on my GSG16. It does come with two mounts a high and a low mount and I'm using the low mount without any issues.

For eye relief I have it mounted all the way back and it gives me about 10 cms of eye relief.

I have a stigmatism and am cross eye dominant but I find the lil p works well for me and I'm able to use it comfortably with both eyes open.

I also like that it has a diopter on it and i can use with my prescription glasses. Just be aware that it is very unforgiving for the eyebox and your head needs to be in the same position all the time to get a good sight picture. I've found more than once that I have to reposition to clearly see the reticle and target

The only thing to consider is that bushnell's discontinued it so finding one might be a challenge. I ordered mine from triggers and bows last spring during the bushnell 30% rebate month. I don't know if bushnell is doing that again this year but it might be worth waiting to find out.

I originally wanted the Primary Arms Cyclops but I wasn't able to find one.

The brand new Primary Arms micro prism sight looks interesting too, I want to look into that once they're available depending on the price point.

Other prism sight makers that i've found are but I don't have any experience with.

Vortex spitfire AR
Primary Arms cyclops this is the existing model not the new micro one
Vector Optics Calypos
Ascension x1 Fast Acquisition Scope
and I think there's a burris 1x AR as well

I have the lil’p and astigmatism. It works great for me. Eye relief hasn’t been an issue on any of my rifles, inc in front of the receiver.
It’s super bright even in daylight.
I took forever to order it and regret not getting it sooner.
The vortex spitfire was ok for me.
The PA’s have been good too, obviously the prismatic ones.

If you're looking for one, a site sponsor (DANTE) has them on for just shy of $300. And if you add a little something to the order, it ships free...

Can't really elaborate anymore than terBC and nagol have mentioned. My aging eyes come with an astigmatism as well, so this one fits the bill (and is the smallest available as a prismatic).

I had one in hand. mounted to a stock to truly shoulder it and get a feel for it with my eye. I hate red dots and appreciated the etched reticle to use as a true, non magnifying optic. But, I found the optic too small for my eye to be able to actually get on a target quickly. I went back and tried it again several times, each time hoping it would get better for me as I really want a non-magnifying, etched reticle that I can use without an illuminated red dot, but no such luck.
